Hi dungeon crawlers,
We are already back again with another small update for the Dungeon Cities Companion.
This time I added a shop page to the companion site.
Honestly, I was getting a bit tired of all the clicking when selling collected items I do not need, so I decided to build something that makes that process a lot more convenient.
Disclaimer
Just like before, I want to add a small disclaimer.
This is a hobby project that I build mainly to make my own progress smoother, and I hope other people can enjoy and use it as well. It is open source and free to use.
I try to code everything as carefully as possible, but I do not take responsibility if something goes wrong and you accidentally sell things you did not want to sell. Also, if you run into bugs, errors, or anything that does not work as expected, please let me know so I can improve it.
So once again, use it at your own risk.
What Is New
The new page is now live here:
https://dungeoncities-next.vercel.app/shop
The goal is pretty simple. Make selling items faster and less annoying.
How It Works
First of all, you need to be logged in to use the shop.
I also added a safeguard so you cannot enter the shop while entering or being inside a dungeon. During testing I noticed that doing that could cost stamina, and of course that is not something you want happening by accident. So now the companion blocks that situation.
Once you open the shop, you will see all your sellable items in one place.
From there you can simply select what you want to sell.
Item Locking
The main feature I personally wanted was the ability to lock items.
That means you can mark items you need, or just do not want to sell, so they stay protected while using the shop page.
One important note here is that these locked items are stored in your local browser storage. So if you switch to another browser or open the site in an incognito tab, those locked settings will not be there and you will need to set them again.
That is one of the tradeoffs that helps me keep this tool free and lightweight.
So please always double check what you are about to sell.
Sell One or Sell Everything
You can use the page in two ways.
You can select a single item and sell it directly, which is nice and simple.
Or, once you have configured your locked items correctly, you can use the sell all unlocked items button to speed things up a lot.
In both cases there is a confirmation dialog first, so you can review what is about to be sold before anything happens.
Closing Thoughts
So there you have it, another small quality of life feature for the companion site.
Nothing too fancy, but I do think this one can save a lot of time and make the journey just a bit smoother when cleaning out your inventory.
I hope some of you can get good use out of it and that it helps make your dungeon runs a little more convenient.
One last tip: if you want to be sure a item is not sold. you can always place it on the market
