Finally, after what feels like ages, the new Legendary Dragon monster, Carnage Titan, is officially released!
But is it any good? I rented one to find out and after playing a few games, I may have to scoop one up!
Carnage Titan Stats
First, let's check out the stats and find out what kind of monster Carnage Titan is.
As you can see, it's a dragon melee attacker. It's abilities are reach and double strike at the levels 1 & 2 and gains shield at levels 3 & 4.
If you've ever played or played against Grund, you know just how powerful Carnage Titan is. Not only does it double strike, but it has reach so you can place it behind your main tank to do some serious damage. Even if you tank goes down, Carnage Titan isn't very squishy. With 7 armor and 8 health, it can still survive long enough to deal out major damage.
Additionally, with 3 speed, you aren't hamstrung like you are with Grum, for example.
One of the downsides is the high mana requirement. Sitting at 11 mana, it's going to be tough to squeeze this monster into some of your lineups. It is also susceptible to the Giant Killer ability.
However, despite these downsides, this card is extremely powerful and can be a gamechanger for many decks.
Let's Give it a Run
For this battle, I wanted to pair Carnage Titan up with Grund and Daria Dragonscale.
With Daria, all melee attackers get +1 damage so this results in 14 damage coming from Grund and Carnage Titan alone, all concentrated on the frontline monster. That's ridiculous!
I generally don't like to use Grund on my frontline because I like my tanks to have either a heal, shield, or void ability. Grund can easily be taken out and that removes a huge amount of your damage. So, what I've done is to put the Mycelic Slipspawn in the back to take away as much damage as I could from Grund to keep the damage party going.
I also, put in a double heal with Wood Nymph and Goblin Psychic just in case. I could've used triage to help keep the Slipspawn alive a little bit longer but I preferred to keep Grund alive as long as possible. If my enemy decided to go heavy sneak, I think my Carnage Titan and Grund could still work their way through the frontline easily.
Once Grum was taken out, there was nothing else my opponent could do.
Final Thoughts
Overall, Carnage Titan is an excellent card. It's quick, powerful, and not too squishy. Even though it's an 11 mana card, the devs have added more high mana battles so there are plenty of opportunities to bring it out.
Currently, you can buy a copy of this card for about $13. This is similar to Grum's price (~$11) and honestly, I think this is a much better card. It'll be a powerful card regardless of the ruleset or dragon summoner that you use. I don't see it staying this "cheap" for long.
