The beauty of Mount Gede Pangrango
Some time ago, my two best friends and I finally managed to fulfill one of our old desires: climbing Mount Gede Pangrango via the Putri Trail. For my two friends this is not the first time climbing mountains, especially Mount Gede, but this is the first time for me to climb Mount Gede. This mountain has a charm that is well known among hikers - its natural beauty, biodiversity, and legendary edelweiss fields: Alun-Alun Surya Kencana.
A Little About Mount Gede Pangrango
Mount Gede⛰️ and Mount Pangrango⛰️ are
two mountains located next to each other in the Gede-Pangrango National Park, Cipanas puncak, West Java, Indonesia. Mount Gede⛰️ has an altitude of 2,958 meters above sea The Putri Trail, which we chose, is one of the favorite trails besides the Cibodas trail.....🔥👍
The Putri Trail is known for being more “to the point”-directly uphill and quite challenging, but it gets you to Surya Kencana and Puncak Gede faster.
Starting the Journey: From Basecamp to Post 1
We started our hike from Basecamp Putri around 7am. After taking care of the simaction, we started walking with 100 percent enthusiasm. The journey to Post 1, namely the post of direction, climbing gede via puri is really no sloping word just starting the journey from basecamp has been tested with a steep track.
After arriving at this post, we re-prepared because at this post there are toilets, places of worship and water supplies to bring to the camp.
Towards Post 2 and Post 3: The Power Starts to Be Tested
After post 1, the journey continues to Post 2 and Post 3. This is where the climbs start to “bite”. The path was steeper, tree roots began to become mandatory footholds, and breathing began to become labored.
On the way to this post we stopped more often to drink and catch our breath.
despite being tired, the atmosphere is full of laughter. We mocked each other, encouraged each other, and sometimes even sang to keep our spirits up....
After arriving at post 2, we took a long break to have a quick coffee☕ and organize our plans for the surya kencana square later.
Surya Kencana: Heaven Above the Clouds
After recharging our energy💪💪, we continued our journey to Surya Kencana Square. Honestly,,,, this is the part I've been waiting for the longest...After a steep, rocky path and some climbs that really drained our stamina, we arrived at the vast field.
It's hard to describe in words. Surya Kencana is a wonderful and vast savanna field with Edelweiss..... The clear blue sky, cool breeze, and peaceful atmosphere made us forget all our tiredness. Shortly at 14:00 or 2 pm we arrived at Surya Kencana, after a moment to unwind by seeing the beauty of Surya Kencana we continued preparations for camping to set up tents, cooking utensils and sleeping equipment.
Towards Puncak Gede: A Sweet Ending
After spending the night at Surya Kencana, in the morning we continue to travel to the summit, we deliberately wake up very early to go to the summit so that the path is not jammed because there are so many mountain climbers, especially on weekends, From Surya Kencana, the journey to Puncak Gede takes about 30-45 minutes. The track to the crater is quite steep but the view is amazing....
And finally.......🔥🔥🔥We are of us stand at the summit of Mount Gede⛰️ 2.958 meters above sea level. From here, Mount Salak is visible in the distance, a giant crater underfoot, and a seemingly endless sea of clouds.
Returning Home with an Unforgettable Story...
The journey down was no less strenuous, but our hearts felt lighter....
This climb taught us the meaning of patience, gratitude, and the beauty of nature that must always be preserved....🔥
