We landed in Curacao on Day 5. We would have two days here as part of our 8 day cruise, so we knew we had plenty of time to explore. We had breakfast and then got off the ship.
We took the obligatory photo in the Dutch shoes at the port and started walking into town. The first area you get to is a little mall and it had free wifi, so we were able to check messages and call home!
Next we went over to the old fort and checked it out. It was really cool because the walls were made of coral, bricks, rocks...whatever was available. My husband liked how they made little shops inside the arches in the wall.
You could walk all up and around on it. There were some great views.
Next we headed over to the pontoon bridge to see how it worked. You couldn't walk across the bridge at that time, but it was really cool to see the pontoons up close.
We walked around and took a photo by the Curacao sign. So many people were over there, it was hard to squeeze in really quickly and snap a photo. Ha! We had thought about going to the caves, so we looked up how long it would take to get there and it showed an hour walking. We asked a taxi and they told us $40, so we decided to try to walk that way. We got away from port and tried to ask another taxi to take us, but the lady said you could only take a "special" taxi there, so she drove us back to the port where we talked to the same guy and he said $40 again, so we decided to skip the caves.
.
We decided to walk around a little more before we took the ferry across to the other side. I thought this little rock family was cute - almost like our family, but only 5 kids instead of 6. If you'd like to see photos of Curacao without me in them, check out this post by of his trip! He has some amazing photos!

We then took the ferry across to the other side and looked around. We went to a little market that had a lot of souvenirs, local foods, and even fish for sale! There were also some fun murals on some of the alleyways.
Around 1:00 we headed to the ship to have some lunch. We had decided to go back out after lunch since we would have some more time in Curacao.

During the afternoon, we mostly walked around and took photos at some of the beautiful places around town and looked in shops. I bought a silver charm that was a Dutch shoe to add to my charm bracelet.
We checked our messages again at the free wifi place and headed back to the ship for dinner. Can you tell this was a popular place to be on your cell phone?
Tonight's attire was white. I had found this dress and loved it when we stopped at a shop on the way to the port in Colon. It was just what I was looking for and I am glad I bought it! I enjoyed all of the theme dress up nights on the cruise!
.
Of course we would be wearing white on the Italian night of the cruise! Ha! Thankfully I didn't get anything on my white dress. It was tasty! We had fried mozzarella sticks, chicken parmesan, and most of the desserts. We went to dinner again at 6:15. We sat right on the edge and could look over and see the couples below us. It was fun because every night I could watch this little older couple and see what they were eating as well. They were so cute.
After dinner, we went to a show called Piano Man. I almost wanted to skip this because I knew we wouldn't know any of the Elton John songs, but thankfully that wasn't all they did. I was glad we went because it was the singing and dancing crew from the other show we had watched and I loved it! I found the write ups for the activities explaining what would be happening to be terrible. They were usually either overly good sounding or horrible - and it usually ended up being the opposite of how they sounded.
After the show, it was time for second dinner and dessert in the buffet. I have to say the food was really quite good! Another day in Curacao awaits us tomorrow!
