I wish the prices were slightly less than airlines with even a few hours difference in travel time. When we fly we have to be there an hour or 90 minutes before the flight then the time of flight plus then waiting to collect baggage. An average 2 hour flight becomes close to a 4-5 hour flight so a train trip lasting 4 hours for the 2 hour journey would be ideal. I know here in SA a 1 hour flight or 5 hour car trip will take 12 hours by train so it is not even close and why it cannot compete with air travel. I love travelling by train and would definitely favor a train over a plane if it was comparable in time and price.
