Today all my family and I took a train to visit the royal palace. It was enormous and beautiful from the outside. We were also able to see some horses and even some peacocks, which I didn’t expect at all since the royal family does not reside there anymore.
Although it was very beautiful from the outside we didn’t go inside since there was really long line and I think you had to pay and to be honest we weren’t very interested either.
Next we visited the cathedral of La Almudena since it was just very close to the palace.
At first I didn’t really like it, I thought it was quite ‘plain’, I’m used to seeing cathedrals in Barcelona where most are from the Gothic era with many patterns carved into the stone. But I completely changed my mind when we went inside.
Although I’m not really religious I still really enjoyed the architecture and the paintings.
Overall it was quite nice we enjoyed a walk all together and learned some of the history of these places which is my favorite thing to do when visiting a new place.
