Appollo Bay on a nice day, life just does not get much better. Not only was the weather great but it was mid-week outside holiday time, and the place was pretty quiet, almost like we had the whole place to ourselves. I lived in Melbourne for twenty years and travelled along the great ocean road more than a few times, but I could not really remember this place, maybe on previous trips it was cold and windy, so we just drove straight through. Staright after checking in to our accommodation I usually like to go for a bit of a shake out run after all the sitting and driving in the car. It really helps to get my bearings it is a good chance to grab a few extra photos.
I had a quick swim after my run.
I have that old postage stamp in my collection. How cool I never knew what it was about but now I know. They installed a communications cable all the way from Appollo bay to Tasmania back in the 1930s. I been to the Stanley Nut in Tasmania too but did not realise this was how Tasmania was connected to the Australian mainland by phone up until 1968. Now all I need to know is what the woman standing in the big shell had to do with it.
