We were up early for another new parkrun location; this was my 150th different event. We were on a bit of a roll with this house-sitting road trip picking up quite a few places. Ocean Grove parkrun was pretty busy as it was a long weekend public holiday, and it is only 100 odd kilometers from Melbourne. It has a great Ocean beach too which makes it the perfect long weekend for any serious parkrun tourist.
The course was pretty fast and flat, but I always seem to struggle running fast while traveling. I am not exactly sure what it is maybe I don't sleep as well, or it is all the extra driving and all the sitting in the car. It was actually run a long side the Barwon River but very close to the beach.
The swans and ducks were up early too
I did a bit of a warmup and checked out some of the course.
The path was pretty narrow for two-way traffic but luckily there is a pretty quiet road alongside which other non parkrunning people and bikes seem happy enough to use. parkrun's in Victoria all start at 8am, I think it is just to confuse all the Queenslanders whose events all start at 7.
It must be weird having a public event start right at the front door of your house this place was probably the closest I had seen with only a narrow road between somebody house and the start line.
Ocean Grove Main Beach is good for a swim afterwards on a nice day.
