We were in Port Macquarie back in May 2019 for the Iron Man event which was on the Sunday. The plan was to take it really easy and pick up a new parkrun event on the Saturday as well as the big swim, bike, run event on the Sunday. The weather was not the best which did not really worry me for parkrun but had me a little concerned for the longer Iron man, if it hung around for the next day. The Port Macquarie parkrun is pretty iconic, the course is run right along the beautiful town beach and the Hasting river rock wall path. The way a parkrun should be. Port Mac is on the mid coast of New South Wales sort of roughly half way between Sydney and Brisbane. It has always been a very popular beachside holiday spot and even more reason to visit when they added the parkrun nearly ten years ago.
I don't think they run the parkrun on iron man weekend any more. Too many people doubling up. It was very much a party a atmosphere.
It was a great run with all the water views.
There was a fair bit of rain but that did not dampen the atmosphere.
May the Fourth be with you.
My twenty fifth different parkrun location.
Lots of the break wall rocks have been painted by the sporting club communities that use the area. My old triathlon club even have one.
Proof I completed the full iron man as well.
My garmin screen shot of this great parkrun.
