I remember the night before we flew to Jakarta. Our flight was early in the morning at about 7 am, and we needed to be at the airport at least 45mins before that. We were all getting drunk until we noticed that it was already 5am and we have not prepared to leave and all. Our beloved home back then was at least 45mins by cab to the airport
I haven’t even packed my things since I came home straight from a late-night work. I won’t point fingers, but when we realized that it was already time to leave, I quickly put in clothes in a bag, grabbed our stuff, and just left.
Wala nang ligo-ligo! Takbo!
So there we were...
Jakarta is the capital city of the Republic of Indonesia (soon to be replaced). It is a busy and sprawling metropolis.
We only went there to make use of our friend’s ‘friend & family’ rate as a staff in Shangri-La Jakarta.
When we were at the airport, we were the only ones wearing casual/vacation clothes. The rest of the tourists coming in were for business, wearing corporate suits.
We didn’t plan anything; we just wanted to escape from our realities of slaving ourselves on a foreign land. Haha OA lang!
After arriving at the hotel to check-in, we went straight to Plaza Indonesia where we had our lunch at Lada Merah.
We did a little jalan-jalan (meaning: to walk/walking in Malay/Bahasa) around the vicinity, inside Plaza Indonesia mall and Grand Indonesia Shopping Town.
Later on that day, we spent our entire afternoon making most of our staycation by being our usual selves: lazy bums! We maximized the day chilling by the pool and pigging out with in-room dining.
Following that, we indulged ourselves with some local Indonesian food, in-room dining. My favorite will always be a good authentic satay with peanut sauce!
Next thing we know, we found ourselves dancing to the music of The Volume, a live band performing cover songs in B.A.T.S.
We capped the night off by being drunk. Again.
The next morning, we woke up late. Only to have lunch at KFC. Haha!
While we were out, we visited Tanah Abang, which feels like going to Divisoria. Traffic, lots of kids running in the streets…
We went back to the hotel to get massage and chill by the pool before we jumped back to reality.
We had this little inside joke about this trip… that we spent 2 days and spent money outside Singapore when all we did was eat and shit and repeat.
Writing this post made me wish that we can all do this again, given that Gem is now in China, Glad is in New Zealand, while I and Jec are still working our a$ses off in Singapore.
