Sweden is well known for its beautiful nature
I love hiking and having went to Sweden was a beautiful way to explorer that passion of mine. I went to lakes which you can drink from and forests that reach as far as the eye can see! Having done this on my own makes this a bit more challenging, but there are some rewards as well that one can only have from soloing nature.
So come with me on a tour through southern Sweden!
Hiking is tough in nature if you do it by yourself only. You have to carry everything you will need for at least a couple of days. No stores to buy food... So pack lightly!
I first arrived at around evening at this cabin. I would call this a luxury class cabin. It has a fire place, a roof that will keep the rain away as well as lots of square footage to do stuff.
Of course priority #1 should be to make fire once you arrive. So take some birch bark and some dry wood and it's quite easy to start one.
There was even a tripod which one could use. So I hung up my pot and filled it with water from the lake and cooked me some pasta :)
Oh yeah! Doesn't take long for the water to boil on an open fire!
This pretty much finished the day for me; although it was still quite long bright. But I didn't really have a lot of energy for stuff... The nights are something to get excited about; sleeping in the wilderness is quite something. Luckily for me there weren't any bears that wanted to poke around, although there were some noises from the wild animals I could hear.
It's not complete wilderness here and this is something that I like about this area of Sweden. You still sometimes get around of super small villages of a couple of houses. They are so neat and tidy! This lightens up the mood sometimes when having wandered around the bush for several hours.
The landscape is a mix of forests, lakes and open pastures here.
And the occasional frog!
Don't you just want to take a swim in these lakes? So blue and clean and ... cold! So refreshing.
The forests are a mix of deciduous and coniferous trees and they both have their own mood when singled out like this.
A little bit further up, I got a better view of the lake.
And don't forget to take breaks! You don't want to get blisters here. You then essentially get handicapped and can't move in the middle of nowhere... Luckily there are plenty of streams to sit down and take in nature.
