In the city center of Aalborg you will find the Aalborg Culture and Congress Centre. It is a well-known cultural building that is used for many events. Right next to it is a large multi-storey car park. In September, when I was in town, my sister and I stopped by when we had heard that street artists were decorating the walls. We were lucky, in terms of the fact that the place was closed and thus completely empty of cars. We understood that it was because the artists were not finished either.
These polar bears are painted where you drive up to the next floor. The artist has painted the motif in such a way that we see the polar bear through cut-out openings in the wall. When we look through these openings from a distance, we see that it is similar to how we would see polar bears through glass in a zoo. The vast majority of motifs in the whole car park have something to do with Aalborg, so we are pretty sure that these symbolize Aalborg Zoo. I haven't been to that zoo in many, many years, but remember it well, as it has been around since 1935.
At the other end of the car park, we see that there are also painted polar bears and penguins. However, they look more like porcelain figures. The letters form the name Aalborg. All over each floor of this car park we recognize lots of wellknown places and symbols of Aalborg. There will be more posts from this car park.
