Welcome back to my latest entry into the CCC Street Art Contest #213 by . This next piece for my 3rd consecutive competition happens to be one I see on my walks to and from school.
It shows two famous Sesame Street muppets, Kermit and Grover, both with a tear in their eye as they wistfully look out from the painted wall. The pictures show the muppets themselves as artists, with spray paint cans in the hands of fictional characters. The walls sit above a glass repair shop called Sam the Glazer.
I remember watching the artist on the day he started drawing the multi-story murals on July 4, 2021, US Independence Day. We could see him getting setup from a nearby roof deck. Nearly five years later, we still have access to the roof deck for some swell views of Manhattan with the Empire State Building peeking out in the skyline.
It is a bit surreal to zoom out and see the artistic creations blend into the city skyline and get lost in the horizon with the elevated subway train cutting through the tops of buildings. But that's just another day in Bushwick. I promise I'll try and post earlier next week! Until next time...
