Melbourne, Australia is a city that likes to define itself by it's street art
You can't spend anytime outside without encountering an artists view of the world.
Today we are in just one street - ACDC lane - it wasn't always called this, it was corporation lane for most of it's life, then there was a rcok dive bar in it which wanted it renamed after one of Australia's greatest bands. It's now home to about 6 very cool resturants, a couple of fancy bars, no dive bar anymore (too many noise complaints), one creative agency and lots of street art so let's see what we can find in this laneway....
The layers of the art is what appeals
But then there are those larger pieces where there is more space - and respect from others to leave it alone.
The AI in my camera genuinely thought this was a person, I like idea that there is something menacing behind
Lot going on with these paste ups
I enjoyed this work which was hiding behind a door looks to have been added to as well which I like.
This feels very sedate in these surrounds, but there is something about that image which is cut-through to me.
This is another thing I love about Melbourne Street Art - the themes and the works you see over and over again, there is a sister to that mushroom in Richmond which I walk past weekly. The STAMPZ work in the back I've been seeing in alleyways for years and years and it's striking every time.
Steet art is living, and over time the messaging changes, or is enhanced or lost. The weathering I believe adds to this one
The ever changing life behind these bins
