This mural is one of the most beautiful things I saw during my time in Playa del Carmen.
Call me romantic, but this is a wonderful love scene, a classy guy, top hat and all, serenading a Mexican lady with her classic hairdo, stylish blouse, and belt in the colors of the Mexican flag. As he could not miss, he gives her a red rose, which if you look carefully, you will see a small skull formed with the petals of the flower. The two hold the musical instrument, a guitar that they share in this story. It is clear that they are not contemporaries, that they have long "lived" in the land of the dead.
They are surrounded by yellow and orange flowers, these flowers are commonly called cempasúchil, which in Mexico are commonly used in the Day of the Dead celebrations to decorate tombs and altars or to make offerings, for this reason it is also known as " dead flower". Both glorious in the midst of many cempasuchil celebrating themselves.
Another fascinating detail of this mural is the colorful neon pennants, perfect for the darkness that is represented, normally used in Mexican parties. Each box with a different design, one with a small evil face and even another with a triangle with an eye in the middle that reminds me of the illuminati.
The whole scene has such vivid and bright colors that it could not be otherwise, since everyone knows the festive way that Mexican culture celebrates its dead.
