I've been trying to get this post up for a while now, but each time I open my photos from the trip I'm reminded of the friends still stuck there and the things going on at the moment.
I've found out that the hospital where my son was born at the end of last year has been hit, I'm not sure how bad the damage is but I hope that everyone there that helped us managed to stay safe.
It makes me wonder, are these art pieces even still standing, these photos may be the only way for anyone to appreciate these works of art anymore.
My photos from this section had to get taken from the car as we traveled around town so apologies in advance if the photos are not very clear.
The scale of these first 3 was amazing. Covering the entire height of these buildings facing the main roadway they make the buildings they are painted on stand out from the buildings which were just left plain. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get artists details for these but the magnitude of the art remains very impressive just the same.
This one was some what of a suprise. I first noticed it when I drive out of the city centre for the first time. A smaller pieces but we'll painted in black and white. I turned around in the Uber as we drove past to see if there was another piece on the other side and was surprised to find the same girl but from a back perspective. For some reason this simple 2 perspective piece of a simple subject somehow made the piece feel more alive than I was expecting.
That is all I can bring myself to go through for now.
To anyone still in the city, stay strong, stay safe.
