Walking down a strip of boring road in Eindhoven Netherlands, between the PSV stadium and the trendy neighborhood of strijp-S, is a long wall of graffiti street art.
Its a pop of color next to a bike lane and busy street that gives you something to look besides the otherwise plain buildings and skyscrapers.
A lot of the work along the wall is nothing to write home about but I did find a few gems along the way that were worth taking a photo of. I've decided to add the first image to this week's edition of CCC's Street Art Contest hosted by .
The work is called Venus Glitch and was created by a Belgian artist by the name of Julien Crevaeles, also known as Novadead. According to their bio Novadead is inspired by ancient African traditions and childhood memories. They are fascinated by the laws of the universe, the cosmos and universal being without borders. Their work is often dominated by concepts of flora and fauna as well.
I think that its quite well done and an interesting piece overall.
I also liked this simple skull by another artist called Norm Abartig...
and these classic Air Jordan's by Joshoppen Brouwers.
I couldn't find much, to any, information online about the wall but it was obviously a collaboration between several artists.
I'm guessing that it was commissioned by the city to spruce up the otherwise dull space.
I really doubt that it's a coincidence that all of the artists chose the same color palet for their individual pieces just by chance.
This skater monkey isn't really my style of art but the realism and level of detail are pretty impressive.
I thought that we would see a lot of street art in the city when we were there but this was the only wall that we came across really. I had the impression that Eindhoven would be teaming with cool artwork, but we didn't see it if that is in fact the case. Still, this wall was cool to see during our long walk between neighborhoods. Certainly much better than a plain wall next to a busy street in the city.
