I live in the part of the city (Zvezdara Belgrade)where beautiful murals have appeared in the last two years. Two anonymous artists, (unfortunately I did not know still their names)paint the surrounding walls and passers-by really admire them. I wanted to share with you, in this beautiful group, murals they recently did. They were mostly murals of famous people from Serbian history.
I took some photos to share with you.
The first one Is a mural that was painted a month ago.
The first mural Is dedicated to one great lady ,it Is famous Serbian writer and novelist Isidora Sekulić.
She was a Serbian writer, novelist, essayist, polyglot and art critic. She was "the first woman academic in the history of Serbia.
The second mural Is dedicated to another woman from Serbian history. Her name Is Milunka Savić ,she Is the most famous female heroine from the World War 1st..She hid her chest pretending to be a man, she did it so she could fight a battle for her country Serbia. She received Legion of Honor medals, the Karađorđe star with swords, and was the only woman in the whole world that was awarded with Croix de Guerre with the gold palm attribute.
Murals of Amfilohije and patrijarh Pavle are really wonderful .
Amfilohije was first the bishop of Banat between 1985 and 1990, and then the metropolitan bishop of Montenegro and the Littoral from 1990, until his death. As the metropolitan bishop, he was the primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro. He was one of the most influential leaders of the Serbian Church, and was among the three candidates .He died due to a coronavirus infection in the end of 2020.
Patrijarh Pavle was the patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church from 1990 to his death.
I found a photo taken when the mural was painted at the end of 2020.It Is a stunning artwork.
He was the oldest living leader of an Eastern Orthodox church.
There Is a wonderful mural of Njegoš too ,near my building.
Petar Petrović Njegoš was a Prince-Bishop of Montenegro, poet and philosopher .
The same artists painted Novak Djoković too.He Is well known Serbian tennis player.
My daughter's Elementary School is called after Despot Stefan Lazarević.
Despot Stefan Lazarević was the ruler of Serbia as prince (1389–1402) and despot (1402–1427).Here is his mural.
The last one Is dedicated to one brave young man.Predrag was a young Serbian soldier. He died in the battle of Košare on April 14th 1999, in a fight with Albanian terrorists.
Graffiti and murals are everywhere around us,this wonderful street art Is becoming very popular in past few years.Congratulations to all street artists worldwide.
Thanks for reading my post.
Greetings from Belgrade.
