Good evening, friends!
Welcome to another post in the Street Art community!
As some of you may already know, I'm spending a few days in the Serra da Estrela region. Today I had the opportunity to visit Manteigas. When I arrived in the town centre and parked the car, I came across a mural about 4 metres high and 30 metres long. The mural, created by Smile Artist in 2021, is a more than well-deserved welcome postcard for this town at the foot of the Serra da Estrela... pastoral life has always been very important to the local population. From raising cattle as a way of making a living from its natural products, to making the most of the soil and utilizing fodder that would otherwise go unrewarded. Of the animal products collected, wool is in fact one of the most used materials, even today. The wool companies were very important for the entire economic and socio-economic development of the region. I haven't seen this place since I was very young... I think the last time I was here was when I was 5 or 6 years old... I don't remember much, as you can imagine.
It was great to revisit this land, these people, and to see the valorisation of a space that was once a sterile wall, now transformed by the hyper-realist artist known throughout the urban art "world".
I hope you enjoyed this post.
