Good evening, friends!
Welcome to another post in the Street Art community!
Two weeks ago, I had a really boring event, but one I couldn’t miss for anything. It was a Saturday with spectacular weather, and the meeting was scheduled to take place in some auditoriums at one of Lisbon’s most important sports complexes. This complex, which includes the Jamor swimming pools, boasts countless sports facilities, and the entire surrounding area is very attractive. There are even artificial lakes, which are used not only for the recreational and leisure aspects of canoeing. But I’ll save that for another post and other communities.
Upon arriving at the venue where the meeting was to take place... (boring as ever), I noticed a fantastic mural on one of the access ramps to the underground garages (which were closed that day, most likely because it was the weekend and no major sporting event was taking place, such as the National Swimming Championships).
Beyond its vivid colors, the mural blended almost perfectly with the surrounding nature. The details of the mural were absolutely fantastic. Depicted on the mural was the European goldfinch, Carduelis carduelis. Notice the scarlet color of its head, with the white collar, its black mask, and the yellow and black wing tips. The color of its feathers is almost reminiscent of very light café au lait.
The surrounding landscape, marked by laurel forests and oak trees, provides a backdrop that is very characteristic of Portugal’s natural environment.
I tried to find more information—whether about the title of the work, the artist, or the year it was created—but I found nothing. Could it be one of those murals that hasn’t caught anyone’s attention yet, since it’s located in a less visible part of the pavilion? In any case, I’ll only be able to find out later.
Anyway, I’ll leave the WorldMappin pin here, and who knows—maybe in a little while someone will notice it!
I wish you all a wonderful Sunday and a fantastic week!
