When it comes to birthdays people are always asking what to get me. I really do not want more general stuff, but I will always happily accept good chocolate or whisky. The chocolate may not last long, but it takes me a while to get through a bottle of whilsky.
For my last birthday I did well in the whisky department. Someone I know is a member of The Scotch Malt Whisky Society who do special edition bottles from barrels they acquire. They got me a full bottle and that miniature. That little bottle has quite a kick that could be tamed with a drop of water.
I think the bigger bottle may have been chosen for the name given my interest in music. They give you tasting notes, but I can just say there is a lot of flavour going on. It goes down quite smoothly if gently sipped. You do not swig a drink like this.
The Glenmorangie was inspired by a French pastry shop and it is pretty sweet, but not sickly. It has matured in bourbon and wine casks.
It is nice to get gifts you can enjoy for a while and these will last me a few months. Well, apart from the little one that only provided a couple of decent shots.
I do not keep all the bottles, but I keep some of the stoppers if they are interesting to remind me what I have has. Of course I am also logging that here on Hive.
I always say that I am no expert on whisky, but I can still enjoy it.
Cheers!
