I’ve been playing Assassin's Creed Mirage for a while now, and it’s been a great experience. Having played several entries in the franchise, I consider myself a fan and an experienced player, which gives me the grounds to say that this is a fantastic game because it truly returns to its roots.
I know there are plenty of Assassin’s fans in this community, so I’m sure you’ll understand what I mean. If there’s one thing about this saga, it’s that every game has its own touch of "originality," so to speak. If you don't believe me, just look at how character actions and button mappings change from one game to the next.
Beyond that, there are many recurring elements that some might find tedious to experience again, but for others—like me—they never get old. One of those is the viewpoints. For me, it’s one of the most original ways in gaming to reveal a map and get a clear overview of how to progress.
If Ubisoft excels at anything in Assassin's Creed, it’s the setting. It’s well known that they recreate cities and historical landmarks with impressive accuracy. That’s why it’s so cool to see the cities from above when synchronizing viewpoints; it gives you a real sense of what the world looked like back then.
For me, it’s been amazing learning more about Baghdad, the setting for AC Mirage. Many great inventions and contributions to humanity emerged from this city during its Golden Age. I’ve loved wandering through the streets and watching the NPC dynamics, but I’m especially fascinated by the architecture—a city built in the middle of a desert that came to life thanks to a canal system fed by the Tigris River.
One curious thing about this AC is that the photo mode hasn't improved much. It’s fairly basic with very few editing tools. It only allows you to adjust the time of day and basic elements like temperature, aperture, color, contrast, vignette, etc. This feels a bit dated in an era where many players put a lot of effort into retouching and capturing incredible images to share.
Another undeniable fact about Assassin's Creed Mirage is that the character has a lot of "aura." Unlike previous games, there aren't many free outfits to find in the world—there are plenty to buy, but that’s a different story. However, I managed to get this Isu suit, and it looks absolutely brutal.
Doesn't it have a massive presence? And that's not all—when the character speaks, the voice sounds robotic because of the mask. Not to mention the combat abilities it provides; it’s just awesome! Because of things like this, the game has earned my admiration. Even though I’m not exactly a fan of Basim (since he was the villain in Valhalla), I still went ahead and earned the Platinum trophy
