Today I want to share my latest captures from Assassin's Creed Mirage. Some of these shots are pretty straightforward, others I really thought through to catch the perfect moment, and some were taken right in the middle of the action and story progression. In the end, they're all special because they mark the end of my journey through this wonderful game.
I’ve officially finished the main story. I completed every investigation, contract, and collectible hunt related to the plot, right up to tracking down the head of the Order to take them out. I won't give away any spoilers; it's enough to say the ending is unexpected and disturbing. My opinion of Basim hasn't changed—after seeing him as the villain in Valhalla, I just have a better grasp of his motives now.
As I’m sure many of you know, after completing a game, the New Game+ option is enabled so you can play from the beginning with all your progress, weapons, and outfits. I rarely replay a game; I only keep going if there’s a DLC available. Mirage has two, and the version I bought includes "The Valley of the Dead," where Basim heads to Al-Ula with Dervis to search for the father who abandoned him as a child.
This valley actually existed; it had a small city and was an important passage in the middle of the desert for trade coming from East Asia toward Europe. Out of everything you can do in this area, what I liked most were the outfits you find for Basim—for me, they’re the best. They have way more style and make him look a lot more intimidating.
Taking a quick detour from the DLC, one detail I haven't mentioned in my posts yet is the combat. For me, it wasn't very good; it felt simple and limited, nothing compared to the combat in Odyssey and Valhalla, whose mechanics allowed for actual combos. In Mirage, everything was limited to parrying, dodging, and hitting. How could I forget the enemy kill finishers in Valhalla? They’re brutal. Years ago, I actually made a compilation of the 10 that impressed me the most
I won't deny that there are some impressive executions in this game. For example, using the Animus anomaly that Basim leverages for a multi-attack is, for me, the best stealth mechanic the game has. I loved it once I could do 5 chained attacks; it was very useful for taking out enemies without being discovered, and also just to have fun and get creative—like the one I'm showing you here, jumping from a viewpoint, marking the enemies, and pulling off the kills before hitting the ground.
Going back to the DLC story, I have to say it has a simple conclusion, but it adds depth to Basim's character, giving the player a chance to empathize and connect more. In the end, it all wraps up with the rescue of Basim's father; the mission is good and requires a fair bit of skill to do it cleanly. Honestly, it was a fun challenge—I recommend it. You end up rescuing the father only to discover that he has grown old and lost part of his memory.
