Hey everyone! Today I want to share some captures from the northern part of Ezo, just past the great lake. These are cold lands, blanketed in snow, where mystery hangs heavy in the air. It fits the vibe perfectly, as these lands are the domain of the Kitsuné—a member of the Six of Yotei who leads a group of ruthless shinobi that has the local villagers absolutely terrified.
Unlike other parts of the island, this place feels lonely. At first, I thought it was just the cold; you barely see any NPCs, and the villages look deserted. You immediately realize something isn't right, and you soon discover that everything in this area is focused on investigating exactly what’s going on. I love that I was able to get my hands on a shinobi outfit pretty early, which gives you the ability to move more quietly so you don't get detected.
You always have to stay alert here; the enemies are constantly hiding in the shadows, like the true shinobi they are. They’re a real pain—most of them attack with kusarigamas and love to set up ambushes. There are also plenty of traps and symbols that are part of the Kitsuné’s communication system, so you have to be twice as attentive until you can decipher what everything means to move forward safely.
But despite how white, gray, and gloomy everything looks—and how eerie the atmosphere can feel at times—this zone also has some spectacular and beautiful spots. The cliffs and waterfalls are amazing. The temples with their red details and the few flowers that survive the snow are great touches that provide a beautiful contrast and bring life to this part of the map.
Something interesting also happened in this area. As Atsu, the game's protagonist, carries out her revenge, it seems like she begins to find more peace. That sense of harmony allows her to interact better with her surroundings. I found a sort of animal sanctuary where I could get close to them and even pet them; it was honestly really cool.
This game never stops surprising me; every area has so much to do and discover. If you notice in the screenshots, I’m wearing three different outfits, which you can find in these lands by completing side quests. It’s great because there’s so much to keep you entertained that you end up forgetting about the main missions entirely.
