I traveled to the Grotto Caves NERO site, surviving attacks from an infected wolf and a deadly Reacher. After infiltrating the cave and securing a health-boosting NERO injector, I attempted to lure out a local horde with explosives.
Finding the cave empty, I scouted the cemetery and lakeside, eventually fighting off a group of persistent freakers.
In my last exploration, I noticed there was a new research site in the Grotto Caves recreation area. I knew there was a potential horde to take care of as well, so I decided to head to the site this time.
On my way, an infected wolf attacked me with terrifying speed. Before I could understand its move, it jumped on me and threw me off the bike, sending me skidding across the dirt road.
After getting up, the first thing I did was take down the wolf with my sidearm. I then slayed the freakers that came running to attack me, clearing the immediate area before remounting my bike.
I was riding towards the cave when suddenly a Reacher attacked me. After getting off my bike to avoid another crash, I started shooting it down and finally finished the beast off with a melee weapon.
Approaching the cave entrance, I left my bike behind and entered the dark interior. I moved slowly, prepared to face a massive horde hiding in the shadows of the deep cave.
The cave had multiple openings, and from one, I noticed the NERO injector crate was at a height I couldn't reach directly. I found another path to it and used the syringe to increase my max health.
After getting out of the cave, I threw a pipe bomb at the entrance. I had not seen the horde inside, so I hoped the loud sound would attract them if they were still hiding in the cave.
When I understood the horde was not around, I started looking at other spots where they might have migrated. I checked a spot inside the cemetery and then rode to the lakeside, but I still found nothing.
I didn't find the horde, but there were some freakers around that came running to take me down. One of them even managed to push me off my bike, so I held my ground and shot all of them down.
