I engaged a Mongol patrol with my katana while Sensei Ishikawa provided cover from a distance. After clearing the enemies and discovering clues about his student Tomoe, Ishikawa gifted me a bow after I proved my skill. We reached Fort Nakayama and began surveying the fort for an ambush.
As I did not have a bow to use like the Sensei, I ran towards the Mongols and I started stabbing them with my sword, while Sensei Ishikawa was observing my technique from afar, likely judging my discipline as a samurai.
Then I got my senses back when there were some enemy archers shooting at us from the high grass. The whistling of arrows filled the air, forcing me to dodge the arrows.
We had to split up in fighting the Mongols when there were three enemies left. I went for the archers to stop their relentless fire, while Ishikawa was fighting a swordsman. I closed the gap quickly, ensuring the archers had no time to try another arrow.
Then I noticed there was only a single enemy left who was fighting Sensei Ishikawa. I realized the Sensei was good with his bow, but not so good with a sword, so I helped him taking down that enemy with a swift strike to the back.
Then we moved ahead and found this place that we investigated, and we realized the Sensei's student Tomoe was here. The Sensei mentioned his student could be taken to Fort Nakayama, which was not so far from us, so we started moving towards it immediately.
Suddenly the Sensei stopped me to give me this special bow. It was a finely crafted halfbow, light but powerful. The Sensei mentioned I would get to borrow the bow only if I could prove my target was acceptable to his high standards.
I started shooting some candles at a distance and proved myself right. Each arrow found its mark, extinguishing the flames with precision. Ishikawa nodded in approval, satisfied that the weapon of his dojo was in capable hands that honored the way of the bow.
Then we kept moving, and at last we reached Fort Nakayama. We did not hit for the fort right away, as the Sensei suggested we should wait on the hill nearby to survey the area first.
After surveying the place, Ishikawa said the Mongols would send men to find their missing patrol and this was when we would strike. We decided to just wait there, letting the enemy come to us while we prepared our arrows for the coming slaughter.
