I quickly learned that taking cover was not enough against the relentless attack drones at the Perez Mines, as their explosions nearly leveled my position. My journey concluded at a massive yellow bunker gate where Jacob had a violent reaction, seemingly caused by his MindsEye device reacting to strange writings on the door.
I thought taking cover would keep me safe, but the attack drone was relentless. It started peppering my position with explosions. The surrounding structures were barely holding up under the heavy fire, and I realized hiding wasn't going to be enough.
I started shooting back, realizing the only way to stop the barrage of explosions was to keep the drone on the defensive. I took it down right there in the ruins of the mining site.
After the first drone was dealt with, Charlie asked me to scout the rest of the mines. For a brief moment, the area felt peaceful; I paused to take in the sight of a full moon hanging over a windmill while an airplane drifted high in the sky. It was a beautiful, quiet contrast to the chaos from moments ago.
The peace was short-lived. As I walked ahead, two more attack drones emerged and opened fire simultaneously. I ducked into a nearby shed, hoping the walls would provide some protection from their synchronized assault.
It didn't matter where I tried to hide. These drones were commanded to kill on sight, and they began firing through every gap and hole in the shed's walls. I was trapped in a deathtrap, and the shed offered very little safety.
Knowing I'd be pinned down if I stayed inside, I charged back out and attacked with everything I had. I managed to stay accurate under pressure and destroyed both drones, finally clearing the immediate airspace.
I entered a larger shed and followed a set of stairs that led me back outside to an upper level. Two more drones were waiting outside so I made quick work of them, taking them down before they could coordinate a proper attack.
With the threats finally neutralized, I spent some time exploring until I found a path leading deep into the underground section of the mining site.
I eventually a massive yellow gate that looked like the entrance to a reinforced bunker. I approached it cautiously, wondering what exactly the company was hiding behind such heavy plating.
As we reached the door, Jacob noticed some strange writings on the gate that triggered a sudden, violent reaction in him. He started acting erratic, and it looked like his MindsEye device was malfunctioning, or perhaps reacting to something nearby. It was a chilling sight to see him struggle as the device took control.
That's all for this session. More moments coming soon and thanks for checking it out.
