After leaving Mexico, Lara and Jonah's flight to Peru ended in a catastrophic crash during a heavy storm. Lara woke up hanging from the jungle canopy and had to navigate the dangerous Amazonian terrain alone. Following a distant flare, she scavenged for resources and eventually found a campfire, though her companions remained missing.
Leaving Cozumel, Mexico, behind, Lara and Jonah were flying high above the Amazon River in Peru. The view from the plane was peaceful for a moment before the concept truly began.
They were having a conversation where Lara mentioned they were looking for a volcanic mountain known as the "Crown of Silver," noting it was likely hidden behind a specific band of clouds.
Right after spotting the mountain through the window, they flew directly into a heavy storm. The turbulence was violent, and Lara had to try and calm the pilot as he became visibly terrified of the conditions.
The accident happened fast. The pilot was killed and the plane literally tore in two, separating Lara from Jonah. Lara's half of the aircraft spiraled down and crashed deep into the dense forest.
When Lara regained consciousness, she found herself still strapped into her seat, hanging from a massive tree high above the ground.
She released her seatbelt to drop to the forest ground. I started walking through the scary jungle, watching various animals and birds move through the brush while searching desperately for any sign of Jonah or the pilot.
After navigating the dense greenery for some time, I got a clear view of the Silver Crown Mountain. Suddenly, a flare shot into the sky, signaling that someone was alive and giving me a direction to head toward.
I moved toward the larger trees to find a path upward. I was a bit confused when I saw Lara reaching into a bird's nest, but she only took a few feathers to use for crafting later.
I had to attempt a very risky jump between the branches. I failed to grab the ledge the first time and fell, but I managed to nail the timing on the second attempt.
I kept pushing through the forest, keeping a close eye on the predators prowling nearby and hoping they wouldn't decide to attack while I was vulnerable.
At last, I reached a lower ground level where I could see the glow of a fire through the trees. Lara called out for Jonah and the pilot, Miguel, but the only response was the crackling of the flames.
Even though no one was there, the campfire provided a much-needed spot to rest. I sat down to catch my breath and used my earned skill points to prepare for the challenges ahead.
