"This Book Will Save You Time" by Misir Mahmudov is a short book that relates the finite amount of time that we as humans have on this planet along with the financial decisions we decide how & where to store our wealth in. The back cover says we live in an attention economy where corporations are fighting for our time & attention. Makes me think of all the time I waste spending on YouTube not just watching stupid meme videos but the ads that play before each video I watch. Yeah, I believe it. What's worse is that those ads are intrusive, especially while listening to music videos & you're driving a car & a 4 minute ad comes on. I listen to 30 seconds of it & look to grab my phone to skip the ad. That 1.5 seconds of trying to skip an ad could cost me my life.
This is a book I am looking forward to reading and this is my first chapter review.
Chapter 1
Opening the first pages of this book I was surprised with how short the chapters are. Literally grade school letters & spacing on the pages with 4-5 pages per chapter. With these chapter reviews I will try to sum them up as best as I can, but take it from me. I'm not a book guru or a professional reviewer of really... Anything.
In this short chapter I see the point getting across is that time can make you money, but you cannot buy more time with said money. In this short chapter, describes how people work their asses off to get good paying jobs. Jobs in which take up all their time. These kind of people have absolutely no free time to do anything that they would like outside of work. They won't get to go out with friends to have a good night out or to spend any time with their family. This kind of person does not understand that with each hour that passes at work is one less hour spent doing something that they would otherwise enjoy doing more.
That is unless their job is exactly what they live for.
We as humans only have a finite amount of time here on this planet. We should really spend our time wisely. There's a quote by Steve Jobs written in this first chapter.
"The most precious resource we all have is time." - Steve Jobs
