Someone was lamenting a few days ago, saying she just received her pay (salary), and it was gone in a few blinks. Bills, mortgage, and other payables took most of it. She could only treat herself to a kwek-kwek. (For the uninitiated, Kwek-kwek is a street food made of quail eggs coated in an orange batter and deep-fried to golden).
Funny, but it's a reality to some (if not most) people. For some reason, her amusing rant replayed in my mind today that I was humming 'money, money' money' while making dinner, lol!
That actually inspired today's two three tunes. And here's the first, by the Swedish pop group sensation.
ABBA - Money, Money, Money
Released 49 years ago as the second single on the band's Arrival album, this song was originally titled 'Gypsy Girl.' It topped the charts in various countries during that time.
I love the upbeat melody, which makes it fun to listen to. Accordingly, Billboard reviewed it, saying it's a "fast-paced song with lots of good-natured gimmicks."
Anyway, here's the next tune, which still has money, money, money in it.
Jessie J ft B.o.B - Price Tag
Catchy, upbeat, and fun. It's a feel-good track that is so easy to remember. This song was released in 2011 as part of the singer's debut album, Who You Are. It topped the charts in the UK and also in other countries, becoming the singer's biggest hit.
The singer's powerful vocals make the song quite memorable. That's probably why it was the first tune that came to mind, hence I got to hum it while cooking.
And finally, the third tune (still about money) is a mix of hip-hop and pop, with R&B elements, by a Thai rapper and a K-pop band (Blackpink) member.
Lisa - Money
The song, featuring boastful lyrics, was released in 2021. It was the singer's second top-ten hit on the Billboard Global 200. Accordingly, it became one of the longest-charting songs by a K-pop female soloist. It surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify 2 years ago, making Lisa the first K-pop solo artist to earn a Guinness World Record. What an awesome feat!
And there goes my three 'money' tunes in participation in the TTT initiative by Ablaze.
