Una idea presente en las mentes de ingenieros y creadores de ciencia ficción desde hace décadas y que los avances tecnológicos están haciendo posible actualmente.
La ventaja de la entidad artificial sobre el humano radica a mi modo de ver en la velocidad con que procesa los datos para dar una respuesta más temprana, siempre que disponga de la totalidad de los datos, a diferencia de la mente humana, no tiene a su disposición la intuición o la imaginación que le permita diferentes respuestas alternativas, salvo que se le suministren opciones de diferentes variables.
Finalmente, no será más que una calculadora avanzada repleta de información, con la posibilidad de imitar el comportamiento humano.
El avance en la tecnología computacional no entraña en sí mayor peligro que el uso o abuso del poder en su empleo para controlar el movimiento humano y a través de la vigilancia, con la escusa de la seguridad someter a los individuos al dictado caprichoso del estado o sus usurpadores. Una herramienta capaz de vigilar a toda la ciudadanía en los más mínimos detalles de su comportamiento y basado en promedio estadístico, predecir su comportamiento y de considerarlo necesario, coartar su libertad, mediante el bloqueo de su dinero o el acceso a medios de trasporte. Estas parecen ser las aplicaciones más desarrolladas en el ámbito computacional. Algunos críticos del sistema, advierten sobre los avances de los crecientes sistemas de vigilancia y el desarrollo de algoritmos predictivos del comportamiento humano basado en el análisis de los rasgos faciales. Algunos hablan de "leer el pensamiento" con lo cual cabe preguntarse si los estados serán capaces de implantar un régimen policial al estilo de la novela "Minority Report" (Sentencia previa) una sociedad controlada por un estado policial.
Si recordamos la historia de ficción, quiero llamarles la atención sobre dos detalles fundamentales: Primero, todo el sistema altamente tecnológico, no es más que el procesamiento de las visiones de tres seres humanos especiales con capacidad de videntes, sometidos a una vida precaria al servicio de la maquinaria, y segundo, al igual que cualquier sistema o institución humana está sujeta al perjuicio de la corrupción.

Estos avances, al igual que la farmacia y otros avances relacionados con la salud humana (trasplantes y bioingeniería) o manipulación del ADN en plantas, animales y humanos, enfrentan serios problemas de ética, pues su desarrollo depende de financiamiento que en su mayoría, cuando no la totalidad proviene de corporaciones mercantiles que espera en primer lugar resultado económico y beneficios antes que bienestar y progreso humano.
