El pasado viernes tuve el privilegio de visitar el museo de bellas artes de la ciudad de Barquisimeto, ubicado en el centro, específicamente en el casco histórico de la ciudad, pues se llevó a cabo una exposición de artes llamada ”Códigos emergente” una exposición de artes que tenía como misión mostrar el arte de muchos jóvenes artistas de la ciudad.
Una enorme cantidad de obras de arte, si no me equivoco más de 40 obras allí expuestas, y entre todas esas obras había una obra en especial. Mi hijastra, 
Aunque el museo está en restauración, se destinó la parte de atrás para exponer las obras. Se dió inició a la exposición con una danza a la que desafortunadamente no pude llegar a contemplar ya que llegamos un poco tarde, aunque si alcanzamos a escuchar las palabras iniciales de la directora del museo.
Luego, algunos artistas dijeron unas palabras y se dió apertura al recorrido y apreciación de cada obra. Había mucha gente y el espació un poco reducido. Me sentía algo agobiado, por lo que esperé un poco a que las personas se desperdigaran para mirar cada obra con detenimiento y contemplar cada una con un poco de tiempo.
Haciendo el recorrido, vino a mi mente la pregunta: “¿Qué es el arte?” Pregunta a la que no llegaremos a una definición unívoca, aunque sí podemos intentar hacer una muy breve aproximación. Más allá de los estándares estéticos, o las corrientes a la que estamos acostumbrados, el arte es en gran medida expresión humana y precisamente eso fue lo que aprecié en la exposición.
Cada obra no solo es una técnica, o mezcla de técnicas que componen una composición, es experiencia de vida, emociones que a través de la técnica se manifiesta en un lienzo, son emociones o sensaciones que de un modo encuentran luz en el ámbito de lo material de manera catártica.
No es porque Anjani sea hija de mi esposa que debo decir que su obra ha sido mi favorita de toda la exposición, sino que he podido apreciar su transformación, su deambular por la universidad y como su atravesar por la carrera de artes plásticas ha podido acercarse más a sí misma, y a transformar el modo en el cual ve el mundo, también cómo se vincula con el mundo y quienes lo habitamos.

Last Friday, I had the privilege of visiting the fine arts museum in the city of Barquisimeto, located in the center, specifically in the historic district of the city, where an art exhibition called “Emerging Codes” was held, an art exhibition whose mission was to showcase the art of many young artists from the city.

Then, some artists said a few words, and the tour and appreciation of each work began. There were many people and the space was a bit small. I felt a little overwhelmed, so I waited a while for the crowd to disperse so I could look at each work carefully and contemplate each one for a little while.
As I made my way through the exhibition, the question came to mind: “What is art?” It is a question for which we will never arrive at a single definition, although we can try to make a very brief approximation. Beyond aesthetic standards or the trends we are accustomed to, art is largely human expression, and that is precisely what I appreciated in the exhibition.
Each work is not only a technique, or a mixture of techniques that make up a composition, it is a life experience, emotions that are manifested on canvas through technique, emotions or sensations that somehow find light in the material realm in a cathartic way.
It is not because Anjani is my wife's daughter that I must say that her work has been my favorite of the entire exhibition, but rather because I have been able to appreciate her transformation, her wandering through the university, and how her journey through the fine arts program has allowed her to get closer to herself and transform the way she sees the world, as well as how she relates to the world and those who inhabit it.
