Por primera vez escribo en esta comunidad y me siento complacido por los temas y las iniciativas que se manejan en ella, porque creo que contribuyen a la formación personal y espiritual da cada ser humano.

Quiero, en esta oportunidad, sumarme a la iniciativa de expresar el por qué hacemos lo que hacemos. Y lo voy a plantear desde varias etapas de mi vida.

For the first time I write in this community and I am pleased with the topics and initiatives that are handled in it, because I believe they contribute to the personal and spiritual formation of every human being.
I want, in this opportunity, to join the initiative of expressing why we do what we do. And I am going to do so from various stages of my life

¿Por qué me hice profesional?

Cuando estaba a punto de graduarme de bachiller, me inclinaba por la arquitectura y la coloqué en la primera opción para estudiar. Me parecía fascinante poder plasmar en un papel aquellos proyectos de edificaciones que luego serían construidos. Sin embargo la opción que me salió para estudiar fue ingeniería civil, la cual erróneamente pensaba que era similar a la arquitectura. A medida que fui estudiando me di cuenta que me gustaba, pues me permitiría llevar a la realidad lo que el arquitecto plasmó en el papel.

Hoy les puedo decir que estudié esa carrera sin saber en realidad a qué me enfrentaba, pero me siento complacido con lo que me ha brindado y lo que he aprendido en 33 años de ejercicio profesional.

Otro título que conseguí fue el de Licenciado en Matemática y me decidí a estudiarla impulsado por mi esposa que también estaba sacando su segunda carrera y me estimuló a inscribirme. Este título me permitió iniciarme como profesor universitario, cosa que amé desde el principio, aunque jamás había pasado por mi mente ser profesor.

! [ENGLISH VERSION] # Why did I become a professional?
When I was about to graduate from high school, I was inclined towards architecture and I made it my first choice to study. I found it fascinating to be able to capture on paper those building projects that would later be built. However, the option I chose to study was civil engineering, which I mistakenly thought was similar to architecture. As I studied I realized that I liked it, because it would allow me to bring to reality what the architect put on paper.
Today I can tell you that I studied this career without really knowing what I was facing, but I am pleased with what it has given me and what I have learned in 33 years of professional practice.
Another degree I earned was a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and I decided to study it, encouraged by my wife who was also pursuing her second degree and encouraged me to enroll. This degree allowed me to start as a university professor, which I loved from the beginning, although it had never crossed my mind to become a professor.

¿Por qué me hice padre de familia?

El título de padre de familia si fue una meta que rondaba en mi cabeza luego de haber conseguido mi primer título universitario. Me gustaba la idea de casarme por la iglesia y formar una familia junto a una mujer sencilla, comprensiva y con valores.

Gracias a Dios la encontré sin buscarla y formamos una pequeña familia de tres. En diciembre cumpliremos 29 años de casados y tenemos una única hija de 21 años que actualmente estudia medicina y es la luz de nuestro hogar.

Debo decirles que el título de padre se obtiene como ensayo y error, porque nadie nos enseña cómo hacerlo. La hermosa sensación de sentir en tus brazos, por primera vez, esa pequeña criatura indefensa, es indescriptible.

La vida se encarga de darte las lecciones, a veces duras, para que eduques y conduzcas a tus hijos por el camino adecuado.

La familia es la mejor empresa donde se puede invertir, porque el producto final que sale de allí, puede ejercer cambios favorables o no para nuestra sociedad. De allí la importancia de la dedicación como padres a la formación y desarrollo de los hijos.

! [ENGLISH VERSION] ## Why did I become a father of family?
The title of father of a family was a goal that was on my mind after I got my first college degree. I liked the idea of getting married in church and starting a family with a simple, understanding woman with values.
Thank God I found her without looking for her and we have a small family of three. In December we will have been married for 29 years and we have a 21 year old daughter who is currently studying medicine and is the light of our home.
I must tell you that the title of father is obtained through trial and error, because no one teaches us how to do it. The beautiful sensation of feeling in your arms, for the first time, that little helpless creature, is indescribable.
Life is in charge of giving you the lessons, sometimes hard, so that you can educate and lead your children on the right path.
The family is the best company where you can invest, because the final product that comes out of it, can exert favorable or unfavorable changes for our society. Hence the importance of dedication as parents to the formation and development of their children.

¿Por qué me hice catequista?

La otra faceta de mi vida, que tampoco estaba en mis metas, es la de ser catequista.

La misión de un catequista es la de guiar a través de enseñanzas básicas de la biblia a las personas que no conocen a Dios para que tengan su encuentro personal con él.

Como les dije, no planifiqué esta meta, simplemente me dejé llevar por un llamado que recibí a formar parte de esta actividad evangelizadora.

Todo comenzó cuando mi hija tenía 5 años y la llevábamos a misa en la iglesia San José de Barquisimeto porque su prima cantaba en el coro.

Luego el sacerdote hizo un anuncio donde indicaba el inicio de un curso bíblico sabatino y mi esposa me animó a participar. Al principio le dije que no tenía tiempo por cuestiones de trabajo y ella me dijo: ¿no vas a poder dedicarle 2 horas a Dios? Eso resonó en mi mente y le di la razón.

Terminamos el curso y nos invitaron a formar parte de la pastoral familiar, hice mi confirmación de adultos (me faltaba ese sacramento) y un tiempo después la catequista me pidió que la ayudara con la catequesis de adultos y allí me quedé.

Actualmente tengo un grupo de adultos que atiendo los domingos y me encanta esta profesión, porque a pesar de no recibir remuneración, siento la satisfacción de ayudar a otros a cambiar su modo de vivir y a conocer a Dios.

! [ENGLISH VERSION]## Why did I become a catechist?
The other facet of my life, which was also not in my goals, is to be a catechist.
The mission of a catechist is to guide people who do not know God through the basic teachings of the Bible so that they can have a personal encounter with him.
As I told you, I did not plan this goal, I simply let myself be carried away by a call I received to be part of this evangelizing activity.
It all started when my daughter was 5 years old and we took her to mass at the San José church in Barquisimeto because her cousin sang in the choir.
Then the priest made an announcement indicating the beginning of a Saturday Bible course and my wife encouraged me to participate. At first I told her that I didn't have time because of work and she said: "Won't you be able to dedicate 2 hours to God? That resonated in my mind and I agreed with her.
We finished the course and we were invited to be part of the family ministry, I did my adult confirmation (I was missing that sacrament) and some time later the catechist asked me to help her with the adult catechesis and I stayed there.
Currently I have a group of adults that I attend on Sundays and I love this profession, because even though I am not paid, I feel the satisfaction of helping others to change their way of living and to know God.
