Good day everyone! Terrible weather means time to edit!
Close your eyes and imagine a skyline of London. This is quite possibly the second skyline people see in their minds when asked to think of London, with the first being the very centre consisting of; The Shard, The Gherkin, Sky Garden etc.
Before Brexit, London was the undisputed financial capital of the European nations, just shy of the top spot which is New York on the world stage.
The brown apartment block in the foreground here was built as part of a new council initiative for eight accommodation buildings. It was completed just 24 years prior to the first building in the Isle of Dogs development (1991) which is boggling for me and just highlights the discrepancy in public council and private money.
In 1967, the total cost for the construction of ALL the council buildings was £2,879,424 vs £624 million for ONLY the single 'One Canada Square' tower in 1998.
This image was taken thanks to foreshore to take off from. Foreshore is Crown Estate owned and gives permission for drone use (other rules still apply so one needs research before flying!). There is a restricted zone in the form of a geofence for the island starting just behind the apartment block.
