Haven't been around for a while, I trust everyone is well? I popped into Salisbury over the weekend.
Old Sarum is the site of the earliest settlement of Salisbury. Starting out as an Iron Age hillfort, Romans, Saxons, Normans have occupied and expanded this significant location throughout the centuries as it was once where trade routes converged.
Ultimately, the cathedral was moved from Sarum to the south after a falling out between a sheriff and a bishop. Citizens moved with it and the new city became what is now modern day Salisbury.

Impressively, the foundations of said old cathedral remain in good condition to this day (seen on top of the mound to the left of centre).
The park I took off from is right next to the Sarum site (operated by English Heritage) and is huge so one can practice flying without fear of spooking members of the public.
