Hey everyone!
Back to Cornwall for this post!
Polly Joke (pronounced Polly Yoke) is a small cove just south of the very popular Fistral Beach. A river winds down to it from a fishery through the hills before trickling over the beach. The runoff can be seen in image three.
It was incredibly peaceful compared to the usual tourist trap beaches.
The landscape here is stunning. Small caves had been carved out from the waves crashing into the rocks. Looking along the coastline towards Crantock Beach along the top of the cliffs is the path.
The seals chose a cove that is not accessible by foot, even at low tide. The coastal path runs around the top of the cliffs, some hikers can be seen if you look closely. Of course I had no intention to fly close to avoid stressing the animals.
Crantock beach is a wide sandy beach with a gentle decline into the sea which makes for shallow waters quite far out into the sea.
On that day, the surf appeared to be similar to what comes in at Fistral. Unlike Polly Joke, this beach naturally has lifeguards.
Conveniently there is a carpark in the middle of both of these beaches, close to a small village so it's as safe as can be and has people milling around.
These two beaches are two of the nicest in the county that I have visited so far and I highly recommend a visit!
Take care everyone!
