Well, maybe not the bloody type of accident you were expecting. I have multiple knives that I use for various things and have in various locations throughout the house, truck, garage, etc.
One of my favorite utility knives from my workbench had an accident this week. I was fixing the hot water heater that went out last weekend and I suppose forgot this in my pocket. One of the reasons I liked it so well, it was small, light and could carry without it being intrusive or in the way.
It went through the washing machine and dryer. Oops. I heard it in the dryer and thought, wow those buttons on my jeans are making a lot of noise today. Well it wasn't the buttons.
When I went to pull the clothes out knife parts came with them. Of course a couple of the screws ended up in the lint trap and not the bottom of the dryer, but when I went to pull it up, two of them dropped down into the lower levels of the dryer. Not willing to take the dryer apart to retrieve them.
Not an expensive knife, but it was one of my top three in terms of frequency to reach for. It had a decent blade for cutting and sharpening, and cheap enough to not be afraid of tearing it up while working.
I will keep the blade and parts and may actually go searching for replacement screws and such. I haven't really looked around yet. Does anyone know a good source for knife screws, bolsters, etc.?
