Hello my dear Hivers!
This blog is basically the second part of my previous blog. Remember, I mentioned there that we were already preparing the ingredients, fish, and other things needed for cooking our dishes. So, our plan was to grill some milkfish (bangus) since there were no other types of fish available at the market. We also had some lato (sea grapes). Thus, we were only preparing two dishes.
First, Keziah and Katrien were the ones slicing the ingredients like onions, tomatoes, and more for the sauce and the seasonings for the bangus. While Keziah was slicing, it suddenly started raining. Honestly, we didn’t expect it at all because the weather was really nice earlier on our way here. But since it really rained, Keziah and the others just came inside the house to take shelter.
As for the rice, Lesly was already cooking it. We bought mais (corn) rice because it really goes well with grilled bangus.
Minutes later, the slicing of ingredients for the bangus was done, so I went over to the grilling area to check if the charcoal hadn’t gotten wet from the rain.
Regarding the bangus for grilling, Lavester was already preparing the charcoal to make it red-hot. Thankfully, he was in a good spot where he wouldn’t get wet from the rain. It was also great that Angelie’s place had a grill—we’re really thankful for that.
When I arrived and saw the charcoal wasn’t ready yet, I decided to help Lavester. I also checked if the bangus had enough seasoning. I really worked on getting the charcoal hot and lit it up properly to speed things up. By the way, it was already 3 PM when we got to Angelie’s house and most of us had eaten lunch yet.
When the charcoal was finally ready, we placed the bangus on the grill. After a few minutes, it was finally cooked—at last!
And here’s the finished grilled bangus. Just by looking at it, it already looks so delicious!
By the way, here’s the sauce—there’s one for the lato and one for the bangus. The sauce for the bangus had two versions: spicy and non-spicy, since Katrien and I aren't really into spicy sauces.
Angelie also asked her dad to get us some banana leaves. After cleaning the banana leaves, we laid them out on the table, followed by the rice, fish, sauces, and lato.
After preparing everything, we took group pictures. So cute, right? After our little photoshoot, we finally ate.
And that is all for this blog, my dear Hivers! Thank you for reading!
