Con los apagones casi a diario se me ha hecho difícil estas semanas lograr hacer ilustraciones para el grupo con la temática de parejas.
Hoy pude terminar una idea que tenía sobre la relación de Ylia y Pete.
Las personalidades de ellos son bastante contrarias: Ylia es muy animada y alegre lo que la lleva a ser más abierta y amistosa con todo el mundo mientras que Pete, no es necesariamente un ogro pero es tan estricto y apegado a lo que es el deber ser que llega a parecer como una persona fría, distante y desalmada, como le ha dicho su compañero Brando en algunas oportunidades cuando Pete se apega más al procedimiento que a los sentimentalismos.
Desmontar una personalidad así no es nada fácil pues, quienes conocen realmente al personaje, sabrán que Pete no es del tipo que cambie de opinión fácilmente ni que se deje ablandar con un rostro bonito.
Esto ha hecho que tenga que pensar bastante sobre cómo llevar las cosas entre ellos dos para que pueda darse un entendimiento entre ambos. Caso contrario, no será nada fácil que sea creíble un cambio repentino en su conducta (salvo que le hagan algún tipo de control mental como ocurrió en un capítulo).
Así que hice una ilustración donde se refleje sus personalidades como cuando tienes varios gatitos en casa, uno de ellos es el típico gatito que está saltando y jugando con todo alrededor y parece que nunca se le acaba la energía, mientras que el otro es el gato que prefiere estar tranquilo a solas, limpiándose el pelaje y no le gusta que lo molesten.
Quienes tenemos gatos sabemos que esto a veces suele ser un choque de personalidades porque a veces el gato tranquilo se queda quieto y no hace nada, pero cuando el gatito juguetón sobrepasa su paciencia, le puede gruñir fuerte para que se tranquilice y se va del lugar a buscar otro sitio tranquilo.
Nunca pensé que lo que empezó como una actividad para eliminar el bloqueo y hacer algo distinto se volvería algo que me ha ayudado a dibujar cosas y temas diferentes a las que siempre me enfoco.

With the power outages almost daily, it has been difficult for me these weeks to create illustrations for the group with the theme of couples.
Today I was able to finish an idea I had about the relationship between Ylia and Pete.
Their personalities are quite opposite: Ylia is very lively and cheerful, which makes her more open and friendly with everyone, while Pete is not necessarily a ogre, but he is so strict and attached to what is expected of him that he comes across as a cold, distant, and soulless person, as his colleague Brando has pointed out on several occasions when Pete clings more to procedure than to feelings.
Dismantling such a personality is not easy at all, as those who really know the character will understand that Pete is not the type to change his mind easily or to be softened by a pretty face.
This has made me think a lot about how to navigate things between the two of them so that an understanding can develop. Otherwise, it will not be easy to make a sudden change in his behavior believable (unless they do some kind of mind control like happened in one episode).
So I created an illustration that reflects their personalities, like when you have several kittens at home: one of them is the typical kitten that is jumping and playing with everything around and seems to never run out of energy, while the other is the cat that prefers to be calm alone, grooming itself and doesn’t like to be disturbed.
Those of us who have cats know that this can sometimes be a clash of personalities because sometimes the calm cat stays still and does nothing, but when the playful kitten pushes its patience, it can growl loudly to calm down and leave to find another quiet spot.
I never thought that what started as an activity to eliminate my creative block and do something different would turn into something that has helped me draw different things and themes from what I usually focus on.
