Well, here's my letter to the person who created monday.
But first of all...
How Monday Got It's Name
No specific person created monday as we know it. But the day, Monday, got it's name, like other weekdays, from different cultures. The modern weekday names as we know them, evolved over the centuries, as their names were changed by different cultures.
Ancient Babylonians were the first people to create and use the seven-day week, which included Monday.
Later, the Romans created the names of the days of the week and called them after the seven classical heavenly bodies (Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn).
In Latin, Monday meant “dies Lunae” — which translates as: Day of the Moon.
When the Germanic/Anglo-Saxon races began to use the Roman calendar, they translated the name of Monday into their own language and called it: “Monandæg” which means: Moon’s day.
So, if I'm writing to the person who invented Monday, as per the prompt, I wouldn't know if I'm writing to the ancient Babylonians or ancient Romans or the ancient Anglo-Saxon races. But I will write anyway. Here's my letter:
Dear Inventor Of Monday,
I want to thank you first for creating a day of the week that can afford me the opportunity to work on my goals and do some work to try to put food on my table. I see you as person who values hardwork and industriousness, that's why you created a day of the week where people get to go breathless and work themselves faint just to survive.
I appreciate hardwork myself, but I'm not like you. I work hard myself, but I'm the kind of person who likes to temper hardwork with fun. That's why I would take the person who created the weekends to dinner but I might not take you. Please don't be annoyed with me.
Well, maybe I will take you to dinner, just not with the same level of enthusiasm. This is because the weekday, Monday you created, is the day people work hard the most. Doctors, during Mondays, put in their best efforts in hospitals. I can imagine the number of lives that would be lost if there was no Monday. Teachers, tutors, impact valuable knowledge to students and pupils on Mondays.
Law enforcement work on Mondays to keep society free from criminal influences. ETC. The day you've created is essential to the smooth running of things in the society, that's why I would take you to dinner. I changed my mind.
I used to see Facebook posts of memes of the person that invented Exams, and lots of people used to react with angry emojis under such posts. I don't blame them. Shows how much we humans love our convenience. I'm sure if you were posted today on social media you'd suffer the same fate. But rather than react with an angry emoji, I'd react with a like or care. The day you've created has been impactful in moving the society forward.
This is my hardwork-loving part speaking. My leisure-loving part might not take you to dinner, he would rather take the persons that created Friday, Saturday and Sunday, to dinner, and that most happily.
But that doesn't diminish what you've accomplished by creating this important day of the week. This is still my hardwork-loving self talking. You should be proud of yourself and not listen to lazy bones complaining what a boring day you created. This is still my hardwork-loving part talking. My leisure-loving part would call you names for creating a boring day. Infact you're a party pooper for creating Monday. What a jerk you are! Now my leisure-loving part has found his voice.
Your's Angrily Faithfully,
Aloysius Mbaba.
P.S: My hardwork-loving part finally triumphed.
