Growing up, I heard a lot of scary stories about the nights, especially ghost stories that make it difficult to step out without fears at night to ease oneself. Sometimes, you wake up to dead animals, especially cats that were killed and labeled a witch that went out for night activities. All those stories made me dread nights, and if I must step out, there must be someone to accompany me so I don't freak out.
It took a lot for me to overcome such fears about the night. I had to sit and have a chat with myself, I asked myself the reason night was created, and the answer is for us to have a good rest after a long day of activity. I took the courage to step out one night and guess the surprise I got. An owl was sitted right at our balcony, and I stood still watching for long to see if anything would happen. I had only seen an owl in books and movies, but on that night, I got a gift from the night, and my appreciation for nights became more real. When you look at the stars at night, the beauty, the peace, and the mesmerizing effect will uplift your spirit.
To my younger self
To my younger self, I would say enjoy the gift of night. That's the most peaceful and quiet moment we have to unwind, relax, reflect, and enjoy the heavenly bodies like the stars and moon.
We get to see interesting creatures that only come out at night just like I was privileged to see an owl. The night is beautiful and should be enjoyed fully when we have the opportunity. The peace and calmness that comes with the night can not be overemphasized..... It's a gift, one that should be cherished and enjoyed.
