From the very beginning my wife and I only have cats as our pet, but one day our uncle took a puppy and asked us to take care of it for a while since he's going out of town, so no one will feed the puppy.
During his first day with us, he's just sitting under the table so we decided to put some pillow for him to rest well. Days passed and he became a very playful puppy ,always chasing our cats. Dogs sure have a different trait compared to cats, they are more interactive with us , unlike the cats that will come to you only when they're hungry or wants something.
And one day our uncle came home ,and we asked him if we can keep the puppy. He agreed since he know we take good care of our pets. So now we have a pet dog officially, we named him " Butong ". He is now not just a pet for us but also a member of our family. Whenever we go out during the weekend we take him with us. He's a really intelligent dog even acting like a human sometimes.
Dogs sure grow faster compared to cats. He change a lot from he was still a puppy, and our cats were still the same. Butong sure lived freely with us, we seldom put him on leash. He just ran around whenever we go out during weekends.
And even when our son came to the world, Butong is still haven't changed unlike those that I watched that dogs become jealous when they owners have their kids. As usual when he's not playing with us, he always bothers our cats just laying in the ground all day. And He always targets Uno.
Then one weekend when we went home to the province, we didn't bring him with us because the car is full of stuff. He was wagging his tail when we left and then went back to playing with our cats when we gained some distance from him. Then on a Sunday afternoon we came back, he was nowhere to be found, he is always there or is fast coming to us when he hears the car approaching, but that day he was not there waiting for us.
We just ignored it thinking that he just went to play with the other dogs, but night came and he is still not home, we searched for him in the neighbors but Butong is nowhere to be found. Days passed and he is still not coming home, then we heard from our neighbors that some dogs were also missing that week. That's when we knew someone took him, we posted in the different Facebook groups that might help us and even promised some reward for any leads.
Weeks passed and then months, still no Butong, we were really heartbroken to what happened to him. We knew meat traders took him and the other dogs, If only we knew what will happened we should've brought him with us that weekend.
Wherever you are Butong may you rest in paradise , you are surely missed. We thank you for the memories !
