La Semana Santa es, para mí, una celebración profundamente significativa, y en este 2026 no podía dejarla pasar por alto.
Aunque en un principio pensé que tendría una agenda llena de actividades con los jóvenes, al final no será tan intenso como imaginaba. Solo dedicaremos un par de horas en la mañana y otro par en la tarde como parte de la Pascua Juvenil, lo cual también me permitirá vivir estos días con más calma.
Durante los últimos dos años estuve de misiones en otra parroquia, en Vista Alegre, pero este año decidí quedarme en San Juan, donde hago vida activa como parte del coro. Sentí que era el momento de vivir esta experiencia desde casa, desde lo que ya forma parte de mi rutina y mi servicio.
Hoy dimos inicio oficialmente a la Semana Santa con el Domingo de Ramos. Llegué un poco tarde al encuentro con los jóvenes, pero justo a tiempo para disfrutar de un delicioso pancito que me regalaron. Luego participamos en la entrega de las palmas, y me quedé para animar, junto al coro de la mañana, la bendición y la eucaristía.
Holy Week is, for me, a deeply meaningful celebration, and in 2026 I couldn’t let it pass me by.
Although at first I thought I’d have a schedule packed with activities with the youth, in the end it won’t be as intense as I imagined. We’ll only spend a couple of hours in the morning and another couple in the afternoon as part of Youth Easter, which will also allow me to experience these days more calmly.
For the past two years, I’ve been on mission in another parish, in Vista Alegre, but this year I decided to stay in San Juan, where I’m actively involved as part of the choir. I felt it was time to experience this from home, from what is already part of my routine and my service.
Today we officially began Holy Week with Palm Sunday. I arrived a little late to the gathering with the youth, but just in time to enjoy a delicious little bread roll they gave me. Then we participated in the distribution of the palms, and I stayed to lead, along with the morning choir, the blessing and the Eucharist.
Más tarde, salí a almorzar con mi novio: comimos unos ricos shawarmas, perfectos para recargar energías, ponernos al día y compartir un rato agradable. También aprovechamos para probar algunos dulces árabes que estaban deliciosos.
En la tarde tuvimos ensayo, que resultó muy productivo, sobre todo porque ya habíamos practicado el día anterior y los cantos estaban bastante frescos. La misa de la tarde, que es la que normalmente me corresponde, sonó muy bonita. Aunque ya estaba algo cansada por haber cantado desde temprano, valió totalmente la pena.
Me hace muy feliz ver cómo el coro sigue creciendo, especialmente con la incorporación de niños y jóvenes. Esa energía es, sin duda, lo que le da vida a la iglesia.
Later, I went out to lunch with my boyfriend: we had some delicious shawarmas, perfect for recharging our batteries, catching up, and spending some quality time together. We also took the opportunity to try some Arabic sweets that were absolutely delicious.
In the afternoon, we had rehearsal, which turned out to be very productive, especially since we’d already practiced the day before and the songs were still fresh in our minds. The evening Mass, which is the one I usually sing at, sounded beautiful. Even though I was already a bit tired from singing since early in the day, it was totally worth it.
It makes me very happy to see how the choir keeps growing, especially with the addition of children and young people. That energy is, without a doubt, what brings the church to life.
Ahora que tengo estos días libres por vacaciones, quiero aprovecharlos para descansar un poco más, organizar mi cuarto, hacer algunas diligencias y, por supuesto, seguir sirviendo en la iglesia.
Deseo de corazón que esta Semana Santa sea tan especial y significativa como lo ha sido en años anteriores.
Now that I have a few days off for vacation, I want to use this time to get some more rest, tidy up my room, run a few errands, and, of course, continue serving at church.
I sincerely hope that this Holy Week will be as special and meaningful as it has been in previous years.
