Hello, Hive community! This is me, starting off with a good attitude for what should be a busy day. 🌟
Hoy quiero contarles un poco sobre mi rutina de los días sábados siendo universitaria en la UNESR, que habitualmente empieza desde las 7am hasta las 4pm. Sin embargo, este sábado prometía ser aun mas largo.
Today I want to tell you a little about my Saturday routine as a university student at UNESR, which usually starts from 7am until 4pm. However, this Saturday promised to be even longer.
Me levante gracias a la alarma a las 7am, de lo contrario hubiera seguido de largo, debo confesar que me cuesta bastante levantarme por las mañanas (aun mas en días lluviosos). A pesar de todo, logre desayunar, arreglarme para salir, encendimos la moto y 20min mas tarde ya estábamos en la universidad.
I woke up thanks to the alarm at 7am, otherwise I would have gone on, I must confess that I have a hard time getting up in the mornings (even more on rainy days). In spite of everything, I managed to have breakfast and get ready to leave, we started the bike and 20 minutes later we were already at the university.
Mi primera clase era de "Educación Física", donde debía entregar un ensayo sobre "entrenamientos de circuitos" y realizar una defensa. Nuestro facilitador iba realizando preguntas al azar a cada integrante del grupo, del mismo modo debíamos crear y explicar un plan de entrenamiento basado en el circuito. Realmente esta modalidad de evaluación me gusta ya que es dinámica, podemos expresarnos de una forma mas natural y del mismo modo aprender de las distintas perspectivas del resto de mis compañeros. En esta evaluación logramos sacar 20/20, así que empezamos el día con buen pie. 🌟
My first class was “Physical Education”, where I had to present an essay on “circuit training” and make a defense. Our facilitator was randomly asking questions to each member of the group, in the same way we had to create and explain a training plan based on the circuit. I really like this mode of evaluation because it is dynamic, we can express ourselves in a more natural way and also learn from the different perspectives of the rest of my colleagues. In this evaluation we managed to get 20/20, so we started the day off on the right foot. 🌟
Mas tarde, teníamos pautada la entrega de una bolsa de productos para uno de nuestros profesores. La idea surgió gracias a uno de mis compañeros, y a todo el grupo nos pareció excelente ya que el detalle seria un gesto de agradecimiento por todo su esfuerzo y paciencia tanto en este como en el semestre anterior. Aquí estábamos solo una pequeña parte de todo el grupo, que pudimos quedarnos para terminar de coordinar todo y realizar la entrega con éxito.
Later, we had scheduled the delivery of a bag of products for one of our teachers. The idea came up thanks to one of my classmates, and the whole group thought it was excellent since the detail would be a gesture of gratitude for all his effort and patience both in this and in the previous semester. Here we were only a small part of the whole group, who were able to stay to finish coordinating everything and make the delivery successfully.
El curso de oratoria estaba pautado para las 10am, sin embargo por tema de logística y de eventos de la universidad debíamos esperar que desocuparan las aulas para poder ingresar. Claro que este retraso para mi fue ideal ya que me permitió realizar todas actividades de la mañana sin apuros, así que estaba siendo un buen día.
The public speaking course was scheduled for 10am, however due to logistics and university events we had to wait for the classrooms to be vacated before we could enter. Of course, this delay was ideal for me because it allowed me to do all the morning activities without rushing, so it was a good day.
Este curso era parte de una evaluación de mi clase de "legislación mercantil", ya que consistía en obtener un certificado de participación de un curso a fin de nuestra carrera, en mi caso "mercadeo, marketing". Dentro de la universidad habían varias opciones pero la que mas llamo mi atención fue el de "Oratoria" ya que tenia algún tiempo pensando en hacer un curso sobre eso pero entre una cosa y otra lo olvidaba. Así que agradezco al profe 
This course was part of an evaluation of my “commercial law” class, since it consisted in obtaining a certificate of participation of a course at the end of our career, in my case “marketing”. Within the university there were several options but the one that caught my attention was “Public Speaking” because I had some time thinking about taking a course on that but between one thing and another I forgot about it. So I thank Prof.
Finalmente, a las 11am logramos entrar al aula. La primera parte del curso estaba basado en la teoría y estaba siendo dictado por @, donde aprendimos sobre el verdadero concepto de "Oratoria". Muchos de nosotros teníamos un mal concepto de ello, creíamos que era solo "Saber hablar en publico" y va mucho mas allá de eso. Pudimos definir la oratoria somo el arte y la ciencia de hablar con fluidez, y ademas de tener la habilidad para "Persuadir" y "Crear magia" con el publico, básicamente de tener la seguridad al hablar sobre algún tema ya que eso es lo que transmitimos.
Finally, at 11am we managed to get into the classroom. The first part of the course was based on theory and was being dictated by @, where we learned about the true concept of “Public Speaking”. Many of us had a bad concept of it, we thought it was just “Knowing how to speak in public” and it goes much further than that. We were able to define public speaking as the art of speaking fluently, and also to have the ability to “Persuade” and “Create magic” with the public, basically to have the confidence to speak about a subject because that is what we transmit.
Otro punto que pudimos resaltar fue que el buen orador sabe cuando hacer "silencio" , generalmente sino tenemos algo bueno para decir lo mejor es hacer silencio. De igual forma pasa con la oratoria ya que puede ser una estrategia para el orador ya que logra el énfasis, generar curiosidad y atención en la audiencia y a su vez se da la oportunidad ideal para organizar las ideas que desea transmitir. Ademas, conocimos un poco sobre "Demóstenes" y su influencia, hasta ahora sigue siendo denominado como "El padre de la oratoria".
Another point we were able to highlight was that a good speaker knows when to be “silent”, usually if we don't have something good to say it is best to be silent. Generally, if we do not have something good to say, the best thing to do is to be silent. In the same way it happens with the oratory since it can be a strategy for the speaker since it achieves the emphasis, generate curiosity and attention in the audience and at the same time it gives the ideal opportunity to organize the ideas that you want to transmit. In addition, we learned a little about “Demosthenes” and his influence, until now he is still called “The father of oratory”.
Para este punto ya eran las 1:30pm, y estaba estresada, ansiosa y con algo de nervios ya que tenia mi examen de recuperación pautado para la 1pm y solo tendría hasta las 2:30 para poder entregarlo. Tendríamos 1 hora de Break, que justo aproveche para realizar el examen pendiente online, no me dio el tiempo para almorzar pero si logre terminar a tiempo la evaluación. Por cierto, también obtuve la nota sobre la nota🌟, a pesar de la lluvia y el hambre estaba feliz.
By that time it was already 1:30pm, I was stressed, anxious and a little nervous because I had my make-up exam scheduled for 1pm and I would only have until 2:30 to turn it in. We would have 1 hour break, which I took advantage of to take the online exam, I didn't have time to eat but I managed to finish the evaluation on time. By the way, I also got the grading grade🌟, despite the rain and the hunger I was happy.
A pesar que regrese al aula un poco tarde, logre integrarme con el tema, y lo importante de la linea de "Problema, Causas y solución" que nos explicaba el orador y como aplicarlo en cualquier circunstancia de la vida. Ademas, nos explico algunos ejercicios para mejorar nuestro discurso como grabarnos o hablar frente al espejo para mejorar la postura y gestos adecuados e incluso la dicción, velocidad y tono de voz. Por otra parte, también hicimos algunas practicas que hicieron el curso mas dinámico por ejemplo el orador seleccionaba al azar a alguno de los participantes para realizar un breve discurso sobre un tema polémico.
Although I returned to the classroom a little late, I managed to integrate with the topic, and the importance of the line of “Problem, Causes and Solution” that the speaker explained to us and how to apply it in any circumstance of life. In addition, he explained some exercises to improve our public speaking such as recording ourselves or speaking in front of a mirror to improve our posture and proper gestures and even our diction, speed and tone of voice. On the other hand, we also did some practices that made the course more dynamic, for example the speaker randomly selected one of the participants to make a short speech on a controversial topic.
En uno de los ejercicios, que consistía en leer un párrafo mientras escuchábamos rock a todo volumen con audífonos. Considero que es un buen ejercicios para ayudar a enfrentar situaciones desafiantes en la oratoria, mejorando la habilidad para comunicarnos sin problemas incluso en ambientes muy ruidosos. Cabe destacar, que gracias a este ejercicio me gane un chocolate, mi tarde iba muy bien. 🌟
In one of the exercises, which consisted of reading a paragraph while listening to rock at full volume with headphones. I think it is a good exercise to help us cope with difficult situations when speaking in public, improving our ability to communicate smoothly even in very noisy environments. It is worth noting, that thanks to this exercise I won a chocolate, my afternoon was going very well. 🌟
Concluimos el curso con un resumen, que gracias a mis apuntes, pude responder con facilidad las preguntas que nos realizaban referente al día de curso. Siempre que puedo tomo apuntes de cada clase o curso, me ayudan a recordar y al momento de practicar son mi mejor aliado. El curso no solo me permitió mejorar mis habilidades sino que también me permitió conocer nuevas personas y sus puntos de vistas. Finalmente logre cumplir con todos mis pendientes del día, aunque tenia tantas cosas por hacer que siento que no pude dar mi 100% en el curso, sin emargo lo disfruste y espero repetirlo esta vez con el dia libre.
We concluded the course with a summary and thanks to my notes I was able to easily answer the questions we were asked about the day's course. Whenever I can I take notes of each class or course, they help me to remember and when it comes to practice they are my best ally. The course not only allowed me to improve my skills but also to meet new people and their points of view. Finally I managed to accomplish all my tasks for the day, although I had so many things to do that I feel I could not give my 100% in the course, however I enjoyed it and I hope to repeat it this time with the day off.
Ya para las 5pm y ante todo pronostico, mi día universitario culmino siendo un éxito. A pesar de las lluvias, exámenes, cursos de oratoria y un poco de caos logre cumplir con todas mis expectativas del día.
It was 5 p.m. and, against all odds, my college day ended up being a success. Despite the rains, exams, public speaking courses and a bit of chaos, I managed to meet all my expectations for the day.
