Yesterday, we went as a family to the Asociación de Ejecutivos del Estado Carabobo, where the "Cambalache de Libros" (Book Swap) was held once again, organized by the radio station Exitos 99.1.
Jazz, libros y antigüedades - Una tarde bohemia en familia
El día de ayer asistimos como familia a los espacios de la Asociación de Ejecutivos del Estado Carabobo, donde se celebró nuevamente el Cambalache de Libros, organizado por la emisora de radio Exitos 99.1.
This event consists of bringing a book in good condition—you can bring as many as you want—handing them over to the organizers, and receiving a ticket that allows you to exchange it for another book. "Cambalache" is a term coined in Argentina and Uruguay that we Venezuelans also use; it simply refers to bartering or swapping.
Este evento consta de llevar un libro en buen estado, puedes llevar todos los que quieras, lo entregas a los organizadores y recibes un ticket que te permite canjearlo por otro libro. Cambalache es un término acuñado en Argentina y Uruguay pero que también usamos los venezolanos, se refiere simplemente a realizar un trueque.
Since they were very young, I have instilled a love of reading in my children. My mother did the same with me, which allowed me to make reading a habit, discovering wonderful stories throughout my life. My oldest son already has the habit of reading; he has finished many books at his young age and always wants to have new ones on hand to start as soon as he finishes one.
Desde muy pequeño les he inculcado la lectura a mis hijos, mi madre hizo lo mismo conmigo, lo que me permitió hacer un habito de lectura, describiendo a lo largo de mi vida historias maravillosas. Ya mi hijo mayor tiene el habito de leer, ha terminado muchos libros a su corta edad, y siempre quiere tener libros nuevos a la mano para comenzar apenas termine uno.
That is why we attended this event. He brought several of his finished books and managed to get a few that were on his "to-read" list, which he fortunately found this time. The activity was great; it was accompanied by a jazz group, very bohemian and completely in a "jazz & books" style. The books didn't last long on the tables—in fact, some didn't even make it there; the exchanges often happened directly between people.
Fue por eso que asistimos a este evento, el llevo varios de sus libros terminados y logro hacerce con unos cuantos que tenía pendientes por leer, y que por fortuna encontró está vez. La actividad fue genial, estuvo amenizada por una agrupación de jazz, muy bohemio completamente al estilo jazz & books. Los libros no duraban en las mesas incluso no llegaban a ellas, los intercambios se deban directo entre las personas.
I really liked this AEEC (Association of Executives of the State of Carabobo) space; it is super vintage, which makes sense since this association was founded over 60 years ago. It is decorated with many old record players, jukeboxes, and vintage radios, giving the room a very retro atmosphere.
Me gustó mucho este espacio de la AEEC (Asociación de Ejecutivos del Estado Carabobo) es súper vintage, y eso se debe a que está asociación tiene ya más de 60 años de fundada. Está adornada con muchos tocadiscos, rockolas y radios antiguos, para darle un ambiente al salon muy retro.
We spent a very pleasant afternoon as a family; we enjoyed good music, admired antiques, and brought home several books to keep us entertained for quite a while. I was very happy to see these types of events returning to the city. It had been a while since I attended one like this; for now, we just have to keep a closer eye on social media so we don't miss any.
Pasamos una tarde muy amena en familia, disfrutamos de buena música, pudimos admirar antigüedades y trajimos a casa varios libros para entretenernos por un buen tiempo. Me alegró mucho que este tipo de eventos estén volviendo a la ciudad, tenía tiempo sin asistir a uno así, por ahora toca estar más pendiente de redes para no perdernos ninguno.
