¡Hola, amigos de Hive!
En casa todas las mañanas tiene olor a café, nos gusta empezar el día con un cafecito, aunque últimamente empiezan con un jugo verde (que debería compartirles), pero al ratito viene el cafecito.
Hubo un año en la que la situación estuvo tan difícil que no podíamos comprar café por su alto precio en época de escasez y sustituimos el café por infusiones. Una muy particular era la que preparábamos con cascarilla de cacao, que según leímos era rica en vitamina C y otros nutrientes, pero además nos daba ese efecto parecido al del café (aunque quizá fuera solo el efecto placebo). En cualquier caso, en lo que la cosa mejoró un poquito, volvimos a comprar cafecito. Aunque seguimos tomando infusiones de vez en cuando, pero ya no es en busca de un sustituto.

At home every morning it smells like coffee, we like to start the day with a cup of coffee, although lately they start with a green juice (which I should share with you), but after a while the coffee comes.
There was a year in which the situation was so difficult that we could not buy coffee due to its high price in times of scarcity and we replaced coffee with infusions. A very particular one was the one we prepared with cocoa husks, which as we read was rich in vitamin C and other nutrients, but also gave us that effect similar to that of coffee (although perhaps it was just the placebo effect). In any case, when things improved a little, we bought coffee again. Although we still take infusions from time to time, we are no longer looking for a substitute.
¿Sabían ustedes que hay un día internacional del café?
Pues yo me enteré apenas hoy. Al visitar mis redes sociales, vi muchas publicaciones alusivas al café y en una decía: "feliz día del café" , entonces me puse a investigar y descubrí que fue el pasado 1 de octubre. Es un día dedicado a la promoción del comercio y consumo de café; una fecha que se estableció (al parecer) apenas en 2015. Además, también descubrí que hay varios países que tienen un día nacional del café, aunque en ninguna de esas listas vi a Venezuela y eso que Venezuela es un país productor de café.
Did you know that there is an international coffee day?
Well, I only found out today. When visiting my social networks, I saw many posts alluding to coffee and one said: "happy coffee day", so I started to investigate and discovered that it was last October 1st. It is a day dedicated to the promotion of coffee trade and consumption; a date that was established (apparently) only in 2015. In addition, I also discovered that there are several countries that have a national coffee day, although I did not see Venezuela in any of those lists and Venezuela is a coffee producing country.
Me vino a la mente que cuando mi hijo vino de visita, hace unos meses, se llevó un poquito de café venezolano para compartir en su casa con sus amigos, porque dice que el café de aquí es muy bueno, mejor que muchos que consigue en Argentina. Sería injusta mi apreciación porque no he probado mucho café internacional.
It came to mind that when my son came to visit, a few months ago, he took some Venezuelan coffee to share at home with his friends, because he says that the coffee here is very good, better than many that he gets in Argentina. My assessment would be unfair because I haven't tried much international coffee.
En nuestro hogar, el momento del café es un espacio para compartir, para conversar y estrechar los lazos de familia y amigos. Algunos días mi hijo se nos une en videollamada para compartir con nosotros ese momento del café. Mi hija dice que es el combustible para su cerebro, incluso una vez le escribió un romance que a mí me parece bastante divertido.
El café es parte de la tradición venezolana, porque las mañanas de la mayoría de los hogares venezolanos huelen a café, ya sea guayoyito, con papelón, con canela, con leche o bien negrito, es parte fundamental de despertar del venezolano. Por eso y aunque ya pasó la fecha, les deseo:
¡Feliz día del café, que nos les falte nunca un buen café en buena compañía!
In our home, coffee time is a space to share, to talk and strengthen the ties of family and friends. Some days my son joins us on a video call to share that coffee moment with us. My daughter says that it is fuel for her brain, she even once wrote him a romance that I find quite funny.
Coffee is part of the Venezuelan tradition, because the mornings of most Venezuelan homes smell like coffee, whether guayoyito, with papelón, with cinnamon, with milk or black, it is a fundamental part of waking up for the Venezuelan. For this reason, and although the date has passed, I wish you:
