It's been a while since I last wrote. Everything has come to a standstill on my street. Sales have fallen, I'm not selling plants, and there are no patients at the doctor's office. People are thinking about stretching their money and buying food in case things get ugly.
My country is finally experiencing a historic moment, where the air we breathe is different. I don't care if sales aren't going as usual if there comes a time in our lives when we can breathe again without needing oxygen tanks.
My quail are laying eggs. There are about three birds that are resting and don't want to lay like the others, but everything is fine. I'm waiting for them.
A lot of spinach plants have sprouted, and my friends haven't even come to visit me to give me some seedlings.
The pomegranate tree dried up all its fruit. It is very leafy, but it did not want to develop fruit. I can wait for them too.
In mid-December, my son's boss sent him a New Year's Eve dinner for two. My son did not want to leave the house for the gathering, so instead we stayed in and enjoyed the dinner they sent us.
Then, on December 31, my son and I had dinner at 11:30 p.m., just as he got off work. We put on our pajamas and welcomed the new year together, giving thanks.
I picked a large quantity of figs from my fig tree and cooked them to make my usual fig preserves.
I harvested my carrots. A long time ago, I planted a piece of dwarf carrot, one of those very small ones. I really thought nothing would grow from it. The plant grew beautifully, and when I pulled it out of the ground, it had these small, tender, fresh carrots.
I put the leafy part of the plant back in the soil to see what will grow from it. I have nothing to lose by hoping that carrots will grow from it again.
My eggplant plants have been infested with pests. I just realized it when I was watering them. Underneath their leaves, they are full of brown pests. Now I'm going to prepare a container with water, vinegar, and baking soda.
I don't know when I'll write again, but I hope I can do so to share good news about my life and my garden. Until next time.
