The Question of owing our parents everything or just being grateful to them for all they have done for us as our guardian throughout life is one that is highly personal to an individual. While some people are of the belief that they owe their parents everything, others are of the belief that they only owe them gratitude either in words or kind. These are two different concepts, owing our parents everything is like submitting our existence to them and be controlled at any given time and this could bring about a deeper sense of gratitude, responsibility, or indebtedness to them.
From my personal point of view however, I do not concur with the clause "owe our parents everything" rather I would term it as gratitude for everything they have done for me right from childhood till my adulthood. So, my own version of owing my parents everything is one that comes from humility, a means to acknowledge the love, care, protection, financial assistance and so many more they have done for me and I have received from them intentionally. My parents are loving and kind people and I have always had it in my mind that when I make good money I would definitely uplift them beyond their expectations because they have done more than what I could have imagine.
Gratitude to parents doesn't really have to rely entirely on monetary gifts but it could be from the little and intentional things such as Verbal Expressions which involves saying Thank you for provision of food, shelter, clothing and so on, it could also be by verbally appreciating that saying the "I love you" word. It could also be by partaking in actions that are meaningful and thoughtful such as doing house chores intentionally without been forced, spending quality time with family via having lunch, dinner or vacation.
Other ways includes being respectful and obedient, remembering certain occasions such as birthdays, mother or fathers day, anniversary (by planning surprises, small parties, gifts etc.) hardworking and intelligent. Again, for those that were brought up with physical touches can give hugs, kisses and so on.
Another words, gratitude to my parents it's not about being controlled or indebted, it is simply it means to show love and care to them. In my entire life, I cannot imagine what life would have been if I didn't have my dad or mom by my side throughout life, they have been a great support in my emotional, physical and spiritual life.
