Things has gotten so expensive, that the price of household goods is no longer something anybody can just go into without proper budgeting and planning. Common items such as mattresses, pillows, bucket, mopping stick, toilet brushes and so on and so forth have tripled their prizes.
Like I mentioned in some of my previous post that I was house hunting but luckily I found a place but for some reasons setting up the place has been difficult because it's requires more money than normal.
The picture posted above is the mattress that I got this evening and it cost 110 000 naira plus 5k for the pillow. Mattress that used to cost between the ranges of 40 to 50 000 is now being sold for over 100k. You can imagine parents whose wards or kids are starting the university and they need to set up an apartment for their kids what would they do especially for low income earners.
In the community where I stay because of the newly developed university in the area, I heard that landlords have increased single room apartment to 500 000 naira. You can imagine students whose parents are Civil servants or barely making an earning to pay such amount for house rent and ridiculously high amount to set up the apartments because the student would need mattresses food water and some other things to survive. Not to talk of paying school fees.
People have complained a lot through various platforms to the government to regulate the prices of landlords rent on houses but nothing has been done about it.
