Have you ever heard strange noises at night to the extent that it will disrupt your sleep and you would be in fear for the rest of the night. I just want to recall an experience I had while I was in secondary school boarding house some years back. Back in the days as students we all know the happenings that go around boarding houses where there are mysterious stories of spirits hunting the environment such as babadudu, miss konkon, bush baby and so many more.
I got to experience to actually although I am not so sure if the second one was true or not all I know is that it caused a stir so early in the morning that people got scared and did not want to come out of their hostels.
My first experience with the bush baby was while we were in our room one night in Saint Joseph hall a room contains 10 students, we were all sleeping at about 12:45 p.m. When we heard this loud and sharp sound of a baby crying it was so real to the extent that I was so scared but what kept me going was the fact that some others students had woken up because of the same sound.
Apparently, the story behind a bush baby is about how it's smart which is supposed to make people wealthy was collected from it hence the loud cry. I am not so sure of the story but the sound that day was so real like a baby that he got us scared about what was happening now a environment in the dark.
The second scenario we encountered another time was the case of babadudu where it is known that a man covered in black paint or charcoal with slippery body would visit the girls hostel for some certain reasons which are not clear to me. At our school boarding house it is mandatory that will wake up as early as 5:00 a.m. and have our Bath for the next 30 minutes before we get prepared to go for morning Mass at 6:00 a.m.. However, things took a different turn that money as we were having our bath in the bathroom we suddenly head screams for the junior secondary side where you were shouting baba dudu repeatedly.
As teenagers, we did not even bother to investigate the matter because everyone just got scared and started running out of the bathroom so as to get to the hostel and stay secured. I could still remember the push the struggle and everything in between before I could get to my room. It was such a bad experience that we were so scared to the extent that we could not come out of our dormitories until the Reverend sisters came around to get us out before the principal address us that it was a rumor.
These are part of the myth that is claimed to happen in a secondary school boarding house and I experienced some of them.
